For those that may wish to use the Gunes bus service from Esentepe to Kyrenia/ Girne the new timetable is as follows;

Monday to Friday

Esentepe to Girne leaving 6.35 am, 7 am, 9 am 12 noon 3 pm

Girne to Esentepe leaving 11 am 1 pm, 2 pm, 5 pm and 6 pm

Saturday

Esentepe to Girne leaving 7.30 am

Girne to Esentepe leaving 4.30 pm

Sunday

Esentepe to Girne leaving 8.30 am

Girne to Esentepe leaving 4.30 pm

The bus leaves from near the top of the village at Esentepe you can flag it down and get dropped off anywhere on the way and ends at the post office in Girne where you catch the return bus . It costs YTL 4 per person each way and the drivers are friendly.

In winter there don't seem to be many foreigners travelling on the bus, but they are always friendly and happy to see us. I am sure they will be just as happy if you are from the UK or elsewhere although we have novelty value when I manage to explain that I am not actually German or Austrian (which for some strange reason I am usually taken for despite knowing no more German than you pick up watching a war movie).

I think its good to give the bus service some support and hopefully as the number of people in Esentepe Turtle Bay etc increase it may be more frequent in future.

Aussie

Thats great thanks. Certainly useful if the car doesn't start. Its nice to see they've increased the amount of journeys to/from Girne. It used to be just for the workers, one bus into Girne early morning and one return journey in the evening.
