Morning all, I am at present in Saudi Arabia and trying to leave to come to TRNC - not so difficult you would think....

I have been told that I can bring my three cats with me but only on Turkish Airlines via Bahrain. So, duly contacted them and they have refused my pets reservations on the ground that the transit time in Istanbul is too long - with the summer timetable it is 10½ hours. So much for that. My question now is.... Does anybody know of anyone who has come via Bahrain/Dubai/Abu Dhabi with pets and got them into TRNC???? I have tried various other airlines but they all say I will have to land in Turkey, go through the arrivals procedure and then depart again - all this with excess baggage and 3 cats - not something I want to do if I can avoid it. Also not sure how that would be received in Turkey anyway. And just been told I could only take ONE cat into Turkey, not sure if that is correct but the way my plans are falling apart it would be about right!!!! I'd like to get them to TRNC without having to circumnavigate the globe........ Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Thanks in advance

Would it not be possible to break your journal somewhere for a couple of days to give the cats a break?

hi rtgirl

sorry to say there is no way round it other than coming into turkey, it will be a pain carting excess baggages and 3 cats but if you have to do it, then you got to do it!!!! or you will have to leave your cats in saudi and im sure you dont want to do this

your best bet is to use turkish airlines when leaving baharin with your cats fly into istanbul and time it right and get a connecting flight using cyprus turkish airlines they fly from istanbul and they transport animals and you can even bring them into the cabin

there is no problem in bringing in 3 cats into turkey, i know people who have flown from syria and kuwait with cats and dogs to turkey to live and they have had no problem as long as all the paperwork is in order make sure of this otherwise they can send your cats back, i have included a link to cyprus turkish airlines pet transportation

http://www.kthy.net/kthyen/animalstransit.html

also contact a woamn called margaret she offers a service in clearing your pets thru customs with all the relavant paperwork she will be able to help you margdaveray@yahoo.com

hope this helps you

Hi ukturk, brilliant as ever!

Have checked out the website and the timings look ideal - you have saved me a whole heap of hassle. Can't thank you enough. I shall also contact Margaret, if I can get her help with the cats it will make it so much easier. Will actually land in TRNC at a reasonable time of day using Cyprus Turkish and actually get to my home about lunchtime - just in time for a glass of something chilled to celebrate my escape! Now I can make my final plans

Thanks again!

Thanks Pat, yes ukturk does manage to pull ou all the stops with his advice/help etc.

Must admit I was getting a bit stressed with all the negative responses I got from travel agents here on how to get the moggies into TRNC with me. Still now I can relax and make my arrangements and if I can get Margaret to help me in Turkey that will make it a lot easier.

uk turk, yes thanks I am aware of the quarantine that the cats need to go through and the daily visits I need to make - that bit is already sorted, all I need is to get the cats there. Have sent an e-mail to Margaret so that should make the actual journey a lot easier.

Thanks again for everything and should I need anything else I know just the man to ask!

Have a good weekend.
