Whats happened to Pegasus ,after a good start they now appear to be a good bit dearer than CTA.

Added to that ,CTA price differences seem to be more level ,whereas Pegasus seem to have big variations in any one week.

We booked our flights some months ago. Travelling CTA 7 June and Pegasus in September. Pegasus came out a little bit cheaper, but not by very much. We've found that the earlier you book, the cheaper the tickets, although this is not always the case. Agree that Pegasus prices do seem to jump about all over the place, with no apparent rhyme or reason.

Yes ,dont see where the big jumps come from ,CTA fly on the same days and times

Pegasus second half Sept now £120-£240 single, and return £140 -£250 october. plus taxes

CTA no problem to get £79-£89 both ways.

CTA taxes however seem to be a bit higher.

I've never found CTA to be cheaper unless you beleive the price on the first page

CTA are actually pretty cheap if you book at least 4 months in advance, which makes sense.

Pegasus is only cheap in seasons other than the summer.

tanman/canyavuz - yes - CTA are pretty reasonable if you book early.

Tanman

only one flight in 3 sofar with Pegasus cheaper.

First flight I took with Pegasus was £160 return ,while cta was £230,

This sept/oct pegasus will be £340 ,and that is on the cheaper days

CTA on the other hand is still £220-£250 with more choice of days at that price.

So, it looks like a question of shopping around? Unfortunately, as I said, no rhyme or reason for price differentials?

All airlines give cheap pricews at the "bottom" as the plane fills the prices rise - we advise our clients to book well in advance as although there are some deals during the season they can't be predicted.

With regard to daily price fluctuations as described above - guess what; it depends on how full the aircraft is on that flight.

Guess what? Does that not apply to both airlines.

What this idiot was wondering then ,was why seats at £320 without meal are being snapped up with Pegasus therefore causing the increase you mention ,but CTA's flights at £220 with meal are being left alone therefore keeping CTA's prices down.?

I am making a comparison with easter when pegasus was £150 and CTA £220

Tom.

Can you tell me then why a lot of flights are only half full and yet they still want the maximum price.

Girne 29 - you are no idiot (Msg 12) The is no sense to it but forgetr the airlimes for a moment and remeber that you are also deasling with human beings who but because they lie the price at the moment.

There also can be another factor - many seats can be reserved for a period or blocked by operators or agents and that can artificaly affect the prices. (We have a group of 30 on two dates at this moment.)

In the past at flightholiday we ran a flight club where we were able to supply seats at a set price that was better than the average for that time (sometimes far better) but that requires a commitment from the passengers and unless we are approached by groups of flyers again we can not risk running it as we did in the past.

Hi Pete,

Operators hold seats for their tours (which can only be used for a "proper" holiday) and if they do not sell they still have to pay the agreed sums those are a part of the lower price brackets.

It is the similar to the fact you are told a plane is sold out but when you board it may only have 60% of the seats used.

Another thing that affects the price and visible availlability is when you go to two or three agents and maybe go on line too who all hold seats for flights you desire - it only needs 6 or 7 groups of 5 passengers in a group holding seats with 5 agents to to "fill a plane". We see this frequently and it is sad that we can get a large number of enquiries that are abortive because a client thinks that all agents have a hidden cache of cheap seats and maybe that they can get them from them. (Believe me if I did have that cache I would use them for myself first; my family often pay "top dollar" because we can't book early.)

Msg 14 - sorry I did not spell check the first lines;

It should read:

Girne 29 - you are no idiot (Msg 12) There is no sense to it but forget the airlines for a moment and remember that you are also dealing with human beings who buy because they like the price at the moment.

By the way Tom,

just been on the kthy web site ,to make a comparison. There are no fares that can be purchased at the moment to Ercan.Seats are available but when you click continue ,no fares comes up. This not a fault as its only London/Ercan flights that are affected.

Wonder if its got anything to do with the direct flights case.?

Girne 29 I have just checked and used a one way sample 4th July no problem with pricing either - you need like us to access the Agents GSA system (and put down big deposits etc etc). Must be a blip on the public site or maybe they are honouring their agents again?

Have tried Turkish Airlines ,their prices are not bad but more often than not the stopover is many hours and sometimes overnight.

Overall find CTA has the best prices and are consistant,Phoned CTA today as their site is still not giving fares at the last stage. Can get more or less £240_£260 for most times/days mid sept-mid oct.A lot less than Pegasus, which was supposed to be the cheap competition.
