Im thinking about going home to scotland for a week in august to suprise my mum for her birthday. I have been looking online and the flight prices are horrendus, last minute.com quoted over 600 quid! Which airline do most of you book through and do you do it online or go to the travel agents? And how much should i be expecting to pay because i certainly cant afford that much! I was thinking its better to fly to turkey and go from there as it seems cheaper that way but its a bit of a faff about.

Cheapest way is to fly from Paphos Trudy, a pain to get there though! I went back January £193 return can't remember the airline.

My friend always uses Eurocypria from Glasgow to Larnaca so check out their prices as well.

Also Thomas Cooke and Thomson. Good Luck

I flew to Glasgow from Larnaca last week it cost £40. a bit of a bargain. It was through Fly thomas Cook but I notice now that the prices have soared for the same flight in August.

Really! Gosh i wish i could find something as cheap as that. Im even looking at July now just to see if anything is cheaper. I love Scotland, but i sometimes wish i lived near Stanstead! Would make life a lot easier, and cheaper!

Ill keep looking!

My total fare was £120 return. Add to that the taxi to get to the North and back and it hikes it up somewhat. I always book on line.

Still cheaper that what i have been finding!! I always book online as well but had recently heard it was better to book through an agent. Just wanted to be sure. Found one for £195 but its to manchester, dont mind getting the megabus up though! Any idea how much a taxi is to Larnaca?

The rate seems to be around £35 to £40 each way. Not sure if there is any system on the go which makes it cheaper.

Eurocypria stop flights after July from Glasgow. Best price would probably be to fly with them to Newcastle. Check out Olympic Holiday site. Prices from Glasgow after July are ridiculous. Have found either Newcastle or Manchester is about half the cost. Its the price we have to pay for flying from Scotland! Good luck and hope you get fixed out and have a good holiday.

Cheapest I got with Olympic - July - Glas/Larnaca return £266 - then add on return

taxi to TBV another £80. Not too bad if going for 2 weeks, but it is a pain. In Apl/May

paid £200 return to Istanbul, stopover, then internal with Turkish air about £80 to Ercan.

Takes long time though on way back with no stops!

Try the 8:00 Pegasus to Istanbul SG then Easy Jet To Gatwick Gatwick to Glasgow gets in in @16:00

You Could return to Luton Glasgow but longer in Istanbul .Might save money on Taxis and crossing with contraband 200 fags OK with UK but not in the South

Hi Trudy,

Have used Globespan in the past, Glasgow & Edinburgh to Paphos.

Not the best route to TRNC, but may be cheaper, depending on time of year.

Good luck,

Did you find any cheap flights? I am now in the same position . Can't believe I'm going to have to pay over £250 more for the same flight I took just 3 weeks ago!

Nah afraid not Mixie. I searched high and low and couldnt find anything cheap! I cant afford to pay that so im going to wait and see if a miracle happens and the prices drop! I looked from Istanbul as they are normally cheaper from there so you could consider getting a cheap pegasus flight to there and going to scotland.

My problem is that i need to go to Aberdeen and no flippin planes go there! Its always glasgow, and i cant find any that enable me to jump on a bus or a train when i land because of the arrival times!

Let me know if you find anything though please

Trudy,

I'm Aberdeen too but i have learned that virtually nothing goes from/to Aberdeen so I relent and travel out from Glasgow which is a pain as I have to get to Glasgow and then pay to keep my car in Airport parking as well.

Hope you find something though

Trudy & Mixie

Have you tried getting flights from Paphos ? They are usually a lot cheaper even though a pain to get there but if both go on the same flight half the cost of the taxi.

Have you tried skyscanners.com ?

Easy to see the whole months prices...surprising how much difference just a day makes on ticket prices.

Just had a quick look for you. Paphos to Aberdeen £310. Any good?

Nurseawful, I am coming to NC and trudy is going opposite direction.

How much would a taxi be to Paphos?

It will be a fortune no doubt!

Vidal

Haven't tried skyscanners. But will do now

Mixie & trudy,

here's a bonus for you Fly Globespan fly from Aberdeen to Paphos usually this company have good prices. Check it out. Think a taxi would cost you around £90 each way but you would save on the journey to Glasgow and car parking charges. Let me know how you get on. If you want me to make enquiries about taxi's e-mail me.

Having moved from Aberdeen in Jan the European oil capital is an awful place to try to get to from most holiday destinations. Even Easyjet does not fly out if Aberdeen other than to UK destinations. Hope you ladies have some luck find flights.
