I am attempting to start a nice, fresh new thread all about love...

I think there are lots of couples here in the TRNC who like me, moved over here with their partners/husbands/wives etc

Some may have been married a while, what do you think has been the secret of the success of your long relationship?

Has going through all the dramas of settling in here brought you closer together?

Are any like me with a Turkish/Turkish Cypriot partner? Do you have any funny stories about differences in culture/problems with in-laws etc

Has anyone got married on this beautiful island? Any tips to organising the perfect wedding abroad?

...others may have just met, did you think you would find love here?!...

Or: Are there any single, perhaps divorced or even single parents looking for love here & finding it hard? Perhaps next time a single's/single parent get together could be organised at Guido's ;0)

Please add your stories, lets talk about something nice...lets talk about love!

Nat,I came here some 9 months ago to live/retire,.I am a young 66!!!!!

A lady from UK,wanting to come and live on this beautiful island wrote on Cyprus 44 asking for advice where to stay etc.

After a few emails on 44 we corresponded direct. Many many times.

We finally met in Istanbul a few months ago, then she came to Lapta a month ago.We meet again in Istanbul in 13 days time, then back to Lapta in August, again September.

Yes,we have fallen madly in love!!! We talk every night, email, text many times a day.

When our divorces are through,I will ask Sandra to marry me.

In fact,I'll do it now....My Darling Sandra,I love you so much will you please marry me as soon as we can?

Thank you my Dearest Sandra for making me the happiest man in the world.

Thank you Nat for starting this thread, and putting on Michael Ball and Andrea's records.

Our 2 favourites, how did you know?

Lilli,Smithy etc for your lovely comments.

On a serious note, when I retired here some 10 months ago,I did ask Izzet to start a "singles"section,in order that people like me could meet others in a similar situation.Nothing transpired.

I hope and pray that others who seek a partner keep trying, there is a special person there, somewhere.

But,I know in my heart, and I am not religious,it was the power of prayer.

Sandra,13 more sleeps until we meet in Istanbul,I promise you laughter, and more laughter, and pink champagne!!!Not just in Istanbul, for the rest of our livesxxxxxx

Lilli, you can't complain with your Italian stallion and he is a chef, not just a chef a great chef...bliss!

nurseawful, well if it's any consolation I was cleaning and mopping and changing the bed etc all day today too!

Hope your hubby had a good morning at golf!

Happy anniversary joandjelly, glad to hear you are still in love, lovely post!...reminds me still have to get down to 14 restaurant, sounds so nice!

cyprusairsoft didn't know you could say 'sex' on here, well you did so I will! Yes I think it's an important part of the relationship

re your msg 37, I have no idea why people would go to 'buy a wife', I don't think such a thing should be allowed and is degrading for women, am not going to go into this as I know what it will turn into and I did say at the beginning I wanted a nice thread! However, my only comment is this: (taken from an old song)

'Money can't buy you love'

As "The Most Helpful Member" I can say quite a few things on the subject but I am reminded of the standard caution "You do not have to say anything but if you do it may be written down and used in evidence against you".

I have been married for almost 36 years and I must say we have enjoyed almost every single day of it. My wife's profession happens to be my major hobby, so that helped but I think the most important factor is respect for each other and tolerance.

Let me give you one single example of what I mean by tolerance. About ten years ago I went to the Cebitt exhibition in Hannover and I stayed at a guest house run by a Turkish family. I shared my room with a very polite Turkish gentleman. On my return home my wife discovered one earring and one gold cross in the pocket of my luggage. I had no idea how they came to be there and I could not offer any explanation. It is a mystery to me to this day. My wife was tolerant enough not to make a fuss of it. Wise girl.

Elko, thanks for your profound statement. In summary I think the answer is trust.Sandra and I have been there, done that.....now we are ready to be together on this beautiful island. But you can't

fight that thing called love.Despite my 3 previous marriages I now know this is the real thing!Sandra may confirm this.

And yes Nat that s*x is important, even at our ages.Sandra may confirm this!!!

No more confirmations.

good points nat re the buying of wifes or husbands come to that

point i was making its sad that people cant seem to find happiness unless they purchase it with a dating agency or

an off the shelf wife from the phillipines etc.

russian women are cueing up for american men and european men as an escape from the povety and corruption of their countries very sad

Cyrusairsoft,

I have seen the sex tourism in Thailand and it is really disgusting. The night clubs in TRNC is another form of sex slavery. We need more conscientious politicians to shut down the nightclubs and the casinos. It is something we can do without. I can accept that brothels serve a purpose but night clubs is something different and we often hear of cases where women are held there against their wishes. Their passports are confiscated and they are forced to sign bonds in order to keep them under control. It is a disgrace on the country.

ismet

PS: Sorry Nat for turning this nice thread into something else. Let us get back on track and talk about love.

Tommy,

As far as Casinos go, I believe you possibly have a vested interest in them and thus you may be considered biased. I am not. Gambling is in the nature of humans but it is also an evil. I never gamble and don't even buy lottery tickets, so I am an extremist on the other hand

It is still illegal to gamble in coffee shops but it is legal in betting shops and casinos because they pay lots of taxes to the government. Gambling is an addiction and kills family life and the children suffer most. It should not be encouraged. It is almost as bad as addiction to drugs and should be stamped out. I am ashamed that this country has become a heaven of brothels and casinos. I believe brothels run by a madamme may be functional and serve a purpose but night clubs are nothing else but prostitution and crime hand in hand.

I met the right girl forty-seven years ago; we have been married for forty years come August. Not everyone is that lucky.

If you close the night clubs down where will the soldiers go and the people less fortunate than you and I. This is a small place; the government should be able to police these establishments properly. You need to stamp out the corruption in higher places before you think of forcing prostitution on to the streets.

Msg. 60

Troodo,

To answer your question about the needs of soldiers and others please read more carefully what I wrote: "I believe brothels run by a madamme may be functional and serve a purpose but night clubs are nothing else but prostitution and crime hand in hand". So I am not against the old fashioned brothels run by the madamme of the house. They serve a basic purpose but night clubs is big business run mostly by crime cartels.

NatAlass,

Love must be very scarce amongst C44 members. This thread could not even make the 100 mark!!!

I could have said a lot more, but as are most of the majority of posts, hijacked by people not looking at topic, and starting unnecessary threads eg casinos, sex tourism.

A lovely forum Nat,it made me

realise what a special lady,Sandra, I've found through Cyprus44.

I wish all other single/divorced people he best of luck in their quest for happiness

Love is everything it's cracked up to be.

That's why people are so cynical about it...It really is worth fighting for, risking everything for

That depends on how large your bank account is and how wisely you've scuttled away funds only known to yourself waiting for that rainy day!

Well done Troodo on nearly 40 years of marriage not many people last that long nowadays. We will have been married for 38 years in December.

Anyone out there that can beat Troodos 40 years?

Love is like a friendship caught on fire: In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.Love means to commit oneself without guarantee, to give oneself completely in the hope that love will produce love in the loved person. Love is an act of faith, and whoever is of little faith is also of little love. The most wonderful of all things in life is the discovery of another human being with whom one's relationship has a growing depth, beauty and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvellous thing; it cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of divine accident, and the most wonderful of all things in life...

Ever seen a 66 year old man crying looking at a computer screen?

Wait 'til Sandie sees that this evening.

Thanks

Some of these postings leads me to believe that some of these 'partners' must be so sycophantic to their 'loved' ones which subconsciously carry a huge amount of latent guilt!

Tried that and got banned twice! I do not tolerate fools but my droll, dry, warped sense of humour does get me into trouble, hence having no loved one and no friends! What the hell, I'm a Kiwi!

Bill Msg 73 What wonderful words and so, so true! The most wonderful thing for me was discovering Mike and seeing how our love has grown in such a short time - "divine intervention" are words we have used ourselves. Now I am in tears just thinking about it. Sandie xx

Mike - you told me no more tears, soon be in Istanbul - Love You Darling xxxx

I want to talk about sad love story.

HE has 63 - SHE has 49,

HE - an Englishman, SHE - Russian;

HE does not want to marry, SHE does not want to live "in sin"

HE could not find a reason she stay here, SHE could not find a reason to stay here with him,

HE will live in England and Cyprus, SHE will be living in Russia.

They will never meet more.

Now she is looking for a good English woman for her close friend - will brighten up his loneliness life here ...

Help her find perfect woman for perfect man!
