Hi

I plan to visit Nth Cyprus next May 2010

Looking @ flight times with Turkish Airways they land in Istanbul - you disembark then get the ongoing flight to Ercan 1 hour later

Is this doable? Or should I look for a longer period between flights

Thanks

I have used the Manchester Ercan Turkish Airways may times. I have only used the flight once where you only have one hour to get acros the airport. First problem was that the flight from Manchester was delayed by 45 minutes which racked up the stress level a bit. When we got to the departure lounge they had held the Ercan flight until our flight had landed. So we got to Ercan a bit later than expected and I would have bet my pension that our luggage would not make it to Ercan with us. But surprise surprise our luggage was first off.

This is assuming that you are transfering within the main Istanbul airport

Turkish Airline flies into/from Ataturk airport, but others, like Pegasus fly in Sabiha Gokcen which is on

the Asian side.

Hi TotallyTina,

Why don't you fly with Pegasus or Cyprus Turkish airways then you don't have to change planes. It makes life so much easier.

We flew with Turkish airlines, both the gates are in the same terminal so it's easy, just get off the first plane and follow signs for international transit, I would advise though when the boards say wait in lounge make your way straight to the gate as there is a bit of a walk. The only obvoius issue if the flights are delayed and then you really would have to leg it.

Hi TT - as none of us know which airport you are flying from we can't give you a correct answer.

All three airlines that service Ercan also fly into Sabiha Gokcen (SAW).

You need to also take into account factors such as your health (can you do the rush OK).

I always advise allowing "sufficient time" to any customer as you do not know what can happen and airlines rarely will hold a plane for a connecting passenger but might place you on the next available flight. (If you are using two or more airlines then the above about connecting flights (waiting or flight transfer) does not apply but the "sufficient time" is even more important.

If all goes wrong & you have a travel insurance claim you have to prove you were more than reasonable in allowing for a missed or late departure arrival (i.e. flight from Scotland to Stansted and then flight from Stansted).
