Look for the KTHY article, click on it then translate page.

My developer told me about it this morning and said that KTHY have not paid the pilots for one month and are going to take strike action if nothing improves soon!

Cyprus Turkish Civil Aviation Union (UC-SEN), trade union members of the 13th KTHY pilots and flight action specialist payment of salaries will go on strike are not open to reason, the Cyprus Turkish Airlines (KTHY), of all flights scheduled to be announced as. The mix that made many of the passengers what to do KTHY was surprised.

This is a part translation from The KIBRIS GAZETESI. 23rd july.

If they never paid the cabin crew ever again it would be more than they are worth.

Pilots do the same job in any airline and should be paid the going rate on time.

I understand your view point on the cabin crew (but they are much improved on years gone by) - do remember that they are there mainly for your safety and security in case of a problem. Without them the aircraft can't fly you anywhere either.

flightholiday,

are you having a laugh???

KTHY cabin crew can't normally put 2 words of English together, their 'safety' briefings are totally unintelligible and I dread to think how they would react in an emergency!

""Cypriot and Turk Men first,..

Cypriot & Turk women & children second,...

Goats third,...

Brits & other foreigners make your own arrangements.""

One of the worst airlines going!

Direct flights & competition can't come soon enough, KTHY wouldl be out of business in months!

I normally try to sleep for the whole flight!

I know they are a legal neccessity but as they cannot manage simple tasks what would they do in an emergency. I'll bet they would be down the chute before me.

If they were worse in years gonebye they must have sat behind the curtain for the whole trip as opposed to the 60% they now shelter there from the horrid passengers. I get better attention from the happy smiling little girl on the converted bomber between Kiev and Dniperpetrovsk. And she only has a packet of crisps and an orange juice!

I don't speak or understand Turkish but I find them fine a smile and a funny face goes a long way & before you say it my face is funny to start with

The airline industry world wide is about too go belly up look at BA asking staff to work a month for free and other flag carriers are in a similar mess Alatalia last year

As B Clinton said "its the economy STUPID"

Lets hope they are paid as they have worked long days for the money

KTYHY ,have never had any problem with them or staff. Mind you I dont get the point about speaking turkish. If it was requisite of reasonable treatment on flights to speak the language,I would have needed to know about 20 languages in my lifetime.

Tootie;

I am just trying to make sense of your translation of the article.

I've tried many times in the past to do literal translation from Turkish to English;

It's almost impossible.

Grammatically what you posted makes no sense whatever other than the fact they are not very happy and are going on strike.

Not your fault.

Ok, Newscoop, aka "Ray". From what i understand Kthy have not paid the pilots for last month and have done a 6hr strike today and will next time make a 24hr strike if this happens again. Also they are not open to offers.

Try to understand msg2.

Its a translation from turkish to english, Not my own text.

I find most of the KTHY cabin crew to be fine. I dont expect much from them as I only need them to serve me a drink and a bit of food! Unless it all goes wrong........

A friend of mine is a chief hostess with KTHY and I know she has saved at least one life in-flight by giving CPR to a heart attack victim. I also know that they have regular, intensive training. I feel perfectly safe flying with KTHY.

KTHY Pilots and staff come to Standsted for training, they have a thorough health check every six months, we have a friend who is a Captain and we will be staying with him in September at his Villa in Ozancoy. I have tried to speak with him now on MSN but he must be flying I will check about the strike.

Lost another 'scoop story' again to the local rags and feeling sour about your loss of any possible personal financial gain?! Save up and buy the latest Thesaurus, out in October, two volumes, and it'll make you 'Peter Perfect'!

before our first-ever kthy flight I read up all the internet comments

like "the world's worst airline" and "don't ask, the answer is always no"

I can only say we have always found their staff courteous and charming

and as helpful as the "realities of the overall situation" allows

well done kthy!

Message 5 - How very True!

...and dont bother complaining because the last time I asked for a complaints form I was told by cabin crew that they had no forms left!

Oh... and I asked the question in Turkish because like you I noticed that their English was limited to the words of 'Yes' and 'No' (more No than Yes).

If this airline ever goes under it wouldn't be the worse thing in the world... it will probably make it a safer place to fly!

TinLondon Msg 25

If "this airline" goes down there will be a smaller choice of UK and other airports supplying the TRNC. I know it is limited and the airline could be bettered but then so could my English and Turkish. I don't hear them complaining about that when I fly.

It's a service that North Cyprus needs if you are unhappy use the other airlines that go into Ercan.

The airline will never go under as its the official airline for the country. Turkey would pay at the end.

Granddaughter arrived 2 hours late on a flight from Cologne yesterday. CTA when I phoned to ask didn't even know they had a scheduled flight from Cologne. Couldn't find the fliht numbe in their records or the booking number. Even though it's in the newspaper. They did manage to confirm that my 10 y.o. granddaughter was on board though (checked in anyway) Srange that they can do that for a flight that doesn't exist. Crappy information technlogy.Crappier communication.

Msg33 It's probably Canadian like the reservation system - don't forget a lot of the information is restricted on all these systems and you may not have got a member of staff with the right access.

By the rules - Any commercial aviation flight form anywhere that is not Turkey (world wide) would have to land in Turkey. I can't answer for private or military aircraft.

CTA in my view are much improved in the last year or two, have just booked for next May,they have some good prices at the moment.Have had no problems with the flight attendants and prefer to land in Ercan than to have a long Taxi ride from the south. As far as language problems are concerned,I can say that there command of English is one hundred times better than my Turkish.
