Are you at all surprised?

If I had a penny for every customer who asked when it would happen - I would be quite well off (not rich).

This is a problem that will persist for a long while ahead.

No I'm not suprised Tom at all and I think your right, it will last for a very long time, or until there is a political solution.

Twenty years ago we were told that "Direct flights will happen next year". I did not believe it then & still don't.

I get very annoyed. It seems to me that everything is weighted against the TRNC. They seem to be doing everything within their power to resolve this situation. Perhaps its about time they started to think about throwing their lot in with Turkey, and let those who are making the obstacles, and want it all one way, pick the bones out of that.

The judge has been guided by the politics of the situation. Lets see if the judge presiding over the Orams case takes the same view.

So what would happen if CTA designated a number of flights Ercan only bookings, take off for Stansted, hover over Antalya then continue to the TRNC?

Would UK authorities be aware/turn a blind eye?

I have friends who have been on flights last year (the Thursday 10pm) and after take off it was announced that the flight wouldnt be stopping in Turkey..... Coincidence that know one was booked to Antalya?

Direct flights have been in existence for decades. I think you're referring to 'non-stop' flights! Big difference!

Richard, you must be the only one who thinks London-Istanbul-Ercan is a direct flight from London to Ercan.

It is if you stay on the craft, or rejoin it after refueling!

Ban on direct flights and therefore Embargoe remains.

Mr Justice Wyn Williams dismissed an opportunity to review.

Short and sweet and very expensive, no doubt.

Oh well, once the border shuts in a few months we'll all be flying via Turkey.

Oddly enough i have been on 2 different flights that came straight to Ercan, no stopping in Turkey. It was lovely to arrive ahead of schedule, but as you can't use phones on a plane you still have to hang around the airport til your pre arranged loft arrives!!...not so lovely!!

Continue to support your local airport.

Which continues to flourish despite international apathy and acceptance.

Msg 10, 11 ,12 Richard is in correct the use of airlines terms.

It does not alter the fact that the aircraft has to touch down to keep legal between any where other than Turkey on the way to or from Ercan.

The truth of the matter is that it probably pays CTA as an airline (not as a tour op.) well to stop in Turkey as the clients dropped off and or picked up there can be as or more profitable per flown mile than the UK or German TRNC flyer.

Well, I'm waiting for Ismet..

I did try to tell you...

If *I'd* had a quid for every time I tried to explain why it ain't goinna happen ..

unless:

TCs drop the "TRNC" is a state claim..

It's all tied in with the UN Security Council declaring the "TRNC" legally invalid

The shame is the TCs did vote to remove the "obstacle" in April 2004 ( Annan) - I simply don't understand why they keep giving the GCs this stick to beat themselves over the head ?

The issue is that the TRNC despeartely needs freedom of travel , international movement and traffic.

Direct international flights would render the embargo situation defeated and tourists and commerce would thrive upon the new opportunities.

It is a real shame that, in this case the law takes precident over justice.

I am really surprised and I have lost confidence in the sense of British Justice. Too much continental influence I am afraid. Is an Appeal possible?

I have been to Ercan three times in the past two years and they 'failed' to stop at Antalya. Do you really think the UK dont know? They must know for sure.

Hey Ismet,

Don't lose faith... I think you can go on You Tube and sing a song about CTA and Pegasus and the 'British Legal System' .....

A bit like the singing cowboy and his broken guitar with United Airlines....

.... Now what style... do you want Rock and Roll or Blues? ... certainly not Hip Hop ....

ps. Marky Mark.... You couldn't resist.... Cok Ayip ....

Elko, what as it got to do with BRITISH justice. Unfortunately for us, our cousins on the dark side, a bona fide member of the EU refuse to recognise Ercan as an international airport. Nothing a strong UK government , never mind this lot, can do to change that. They have to abide by international law so stop your Brit bashing, even though it seems to be your hobby.

It's a pity that the TRNC courts aren't in line with UK law and precedents.

Come on Alpie, time and date or, in typical Greek fashion, are you running in the direction you only know how, backwards and away?
