The villa opposite me has been rented by a number of guys between 4 and 8 stay there. They arrive home at around 4am into the pool shouting, music blaring often accompanied by some very European looking females (not Brits). They eventually go to sleep about 8am and are up and out again ? to work at approx 4pm.

They have 6 dogs. 2 Alsatian cross pups who wander the garden day and night, a bull terrier bitch who is tied up in the back garden with her 2 pups. And another bull terrier type dog which is tied to a railing on a very small upstairs balcony 24 / 7. Last night hubby and I couldn't stand these dogs crying any more so went over to look they were starving and had no water. We fed them and gave them water but the one on the upstairs balcony we couldn't reach with water so could only manage to throw bread soaked in water to it. These people speak little or no English so what do I do?? Not getting enough sleep now and its driving me mad. Any suggestions please

I suppose the obvious thing to do is contact the police but whether they would do anything, your guess is as good mine. Good luck.

Well,

I think that Jock1 and Brinsley will both have suggestions, both coincidentally beginning with 'B', and both unfortunately impractical.

The first thing that springs to mind is: go and have a word with your Muhtar.

They are well versed in solving disputes between neighbours, and he may be prepared to have a word with them.

Unfortunately, I do not think that you can expect to see their behaviour change to what you would consider 'normal' - but he may be able to get them to agree to limit the riotous carryings-on to a few nights per week.

If this is unsuccessful, then an approach to the property owner might bear fruit - if they are intending to occupy the property themselves at some point, then they may be reluctant to upset their future neighbours - Cypriots do seem to have a strong sense of community, and 'neighbours' come pretty high on the list. Unfortunately, 'other Cypriots' are higher on the list than 'Foreigners', so don't hope for too much...

And lastly, earplugs?

Hi All, I think these guys are from the mainland and they work either in the casinos or nightclubs judging by the hours they keep.

I have tried in vain to contact the owner who lives between Ankara and London. Have only the Ankara number but no answer. For her sake as well something needs to be done before the villa is wrecked. Already one of the dining room chairs has been chopped up and most of it burned on the BBQ.

The 'borrowed' 3 chairs from next door which is a holiday home, I asked them to put them back and was met with a blank stare, they seem to think it is their right to help themselves to anything.

If they work in casinos or night clubs;chances are that the place has been rented by their boss rather than themselves. Not that it changes anything.

Catalkoykid

It is a nightmare especially that dog that is left on the upstairs balcony, it must be in agony as the glass patio doors on to it face west so gets the sun most of the day which must be burning the dog with the reflection from the glass.

This sounds very similar to what I had to put up with at my old (rented) house. Those neighbours who were into people/drug smuggling, fake passports, guns, prostitutes, violence, hungry/thirsty/tied-up dogs, abuse recently seem to have left the house they were renting (though they never paid any rent). It sounds awfully like they might have moved to near you. If they are the same people (a silver car is involved) the police will do nothing as they are above the law. They used to be connected to a certain casino which closed down and before I sorted out all the problems by name-dropping (I used to know some very unsavoury people in Turkey!!), I was, on more than one occasion, woken up in the night by someone with a gun threatening to kill them. At this point I thought it was a good idea to move house! I truly sympathise with you.

Noisy neighbours are a nightmare! & cruelty to those dogs even worse, am really sorry for you Chris and your husband, I do sympathise, the worst are always the holiday makers, we had a family in an apartment here a few months back who overtook the 'COMMUNAL' pool every day for a week from about 8am to 8pm, non stop they used to bring everything down with them from their house, chairs, food etc and never leave, you would think they had never seen a pool before or wouldn't they like a change? Maybe an afternoon in town or to the beach?! Oh no!...with the parents and their stereo playing very cheesy loud 80s music, 3 screeching kids and on the second day accompanied by 3 lilos-one each!!! Everyone complained as there was no space or time for anyone else here to use the pool or even relax in peace in their own home, no respect for others! Thank God they stayed just a week and left!

Good luck I hope you get something sorted out or they leave soon!

It's a pity you can't do the same from 8 am to 4pm. They might get the message.

Reminds me of the time a lot of years ago when our next door neighbours had a dog tied to the clothes post that barked all night. About 1-00am my old dad jumped out of bed shouting "I've had enough of this" and stormed outside. He returned 20 minutes later. The dog was still barking. I asked him why he hadn't sorted it out. He replied "I have, I've chained it up in our garden, let's see how they like it"

Any idea which estate agent they have rented through? If possible to find out, I'd have a moan at them & therefore also to the owner. I'd also follow them to ascertain where they worked and if a hotel, casino or somewhere with a reputation to maintain, I'd go and complain to their management.

Tried to contact owner to no avail. Water tanker guys say they are gypsies (they are TC's)

Was out shouting like a fishwife today, not proud of it.

Wish I was there at the moment they wouldn't stand a chance against the two of us (ha ha). Feel sorry for the dogs. Bella only barks after the sun goes down and usually for a good reason. Hope you can manage to contact the owner of the house soon and get them evicted, but wonder what will happen to the poor dogs then.

Just been over to speak to M & K the neighbours who. are here on holiday They have just told me that the pit bull who was out the back garden with the 2 pups that Hubby and I fed, was taken out into the car while I was argueing with them, in a black bag. Sorry about the spelling folks but I am choked. I should have intervened sooner.

So sorry to hear about your bad neighbours, perhaps if they dont improve you could put some strong dye into the pool, or if you really wanted to stop them from swimming, sump oil. Perhaps you can get some of those long lasting stink bombs and post through their letter box so they dont get any sleep, I dont know just a couple of thoughts, do hope someone can help you as nothing worse than getting no sleep if you have a hectic schedule. What has happened to the pups? makes my blood boil what you have wrote about them. All the best to you.

Dizzy Now what will happen to the pups??????????? i sure as hell don't know, I feel so guilty that hubby and I didn't intervene sooner, the poor bitch is DEAD but still 5 dogs there.

In all fairness we had friends round for a BBQ tonight 2 who stay here and one from Belfast who is here with his 2 kids. The kids gathered up all that was left and went across and tried to feed the poor dog that is still tied up on that wee balcony. Really difficult unless you are a wonderful netball player and can aim the food to the poor beast and win. i have had e-mails of board from good friends telling me to be careful (also supporting me) I know what you are all saying and thank you for that but this lot are NOT going to win.

OK hands up had 3 glasses of wine tonight instead of two (liar) but really upset so sorry folks if I am rambling!

Well folks it pays to be a fish wife. Not a peep out of them when they came in this morning. And the other bull terrier seems to have been spirited away during the night. Peace reigns once again in Lapta.

racoonchic,

Can't turn of their water meter as they don't have one, the last people the owner rented her villa to ended up with a bill for over £1000 so meter was taken away. They don't have air-con and as far as I no no fans either!!!

Godzilla, who are you anyway? This is not the first time you seem to think that a post by Nurseawful has placed on the Forum is a reason for what seems to me to be a personal vendetta? I would urge you that unless you want to place something relevant to the post just forget it! Unlike you my e-mail is now on my profile, if you have a problem then go girl let me know.

Godzilla Once again you rear your ugly head. Do you have a personal problem with me and most thinks I say. As always you hide your e-mail address. Why should I go back to the UK. Your profile say you are Jenny live in Girne so how would you know where and when I go for a drink ???????????? And what it has to do with you pray tell, I'm not drinking your money am I ? I suspect that you are not Jenny but someone with no Pazzaz that at one time had a problem with trncvaughan on this board initials JGS.

If not the only other Jenny I know of and have not met and have no grudge with is one that works locally and if you are she what is your gripe with me.

Godzilla,

What exactly do you mean by 'just keep it in mind wee lassie'. and also 'people talk' ??

According to your profile you live in Girne so hwo did you know that I went occasionally to JK's. OCCASIONALLY maybe twice a week and never have more than 3 glasses of wine, so your info wrong there, why I should have to explain myself to you though is another thing.

Finally Lassie has 2 s's not one!
