Hi Watty,

If you are from Old Hill, I am not telling you where we are going to live!

You would never be away," drinkin all me beer!"

No seriously though Plot 12 Greatstone Park Esentepe. Just where the coast road splits to up to Esentepe. Hoping for completion May/June. Keep in touch. We will have a barbeque, but you will have to bring your own black pudding.

Efes and black pudding! Now you are talking....nouveau cuisine!

Where did you live in Old Hill? I used to work at Harris Lifting Gawne Lane.....but I have lived in North East England for over 30 years now.

Good to hear from you Watty. Keep in touch

Hi Wynyardman

Are they going to have another exit to your development. I drove up there a while ago to take some photos for friends and my poor car struggled to get to the top. I had to change to 1st gear to get there. It's one hell of an incline makes Porlock Hill in Somerset look like a doddle.

Hi Orangekazzie,

I think that you were very brave to drive up there. We certainly didnt. Neither my wife or I were game for that! Our son however has no reservations. He has developed a style that makes it look easy! I just close my eyes! Oh the joys of youth!

I am assurred that once it is tarmac-ed it will be OK. Maybe an efes ot two before I try though.

Hello wynyardman

I was born in the high street going up to blackheath,I had a newsagents on the left hand side oppsite dobsons garage, moved to shropshire 28 years ago though.

Who were some of the blokes you worked with at harris's maybe there still around, I still go back over that way most weekends for the crack, much better than salop.

Can you remeber marsh and baxters in the high street now that was the proper black pudding, i can still make groaty dick if you want the reciepe, hope no one thinks i am being rude.

I will be over in nc five weeks yesterdayfor 5 days if your over then let me know and we can show them how black country blokes can neck it down.

Hi Watty,

Reading your postings, Ive got tears in my eyes.

Marsh and Baxters.....now that takes me back..Pork pies, dripping, scratchings and black pudding. We'll have to open a shop in the TRNC. I think we could teach these guys a thing or too. Get a bit of meat on them!..... Hot pork sarnies......

I guess I will miss you on your next visit. but we must certainly get together to reminise.

I stayed in forging when I came to the North East. All the blokes we employed were from the black country. What a great team. Work until 6pm then straight to the Pub for light

refreshments .The round used to be six pints and six bags of scratchings.Kept me slim in those days, but now a glass of wine and a peanut, and it takes 3 to get me out of the chair!

Back to Harris Lifting.......MD was John Barker (a Londoner) a right bas.....d to work for. The wife reckons he taught me well. Adrian Lester was Works Manager. A good bloke. Drank like a fish. Tommy Whale and the blokes in the Stamp Shop smashing team. But my fondest memories were of Rhonna. Excellent typist but what a mover( got married and spoilt it all) She came from the shop where the High St Old Hill went up towards Netherton just on the right. Then there was Janet Whitehouse lovely girl(another waste)

Then there was Ben. Worked on the Landis Screwing Machines (suited him) he was a grand lad. He would be dead now but, the night before I got married, he took me on one side, and told me...When I first got married, I couldnt wait for her (the wife) to get her stockings off......, now I can wait while she knits them! ........I should have listened to him!

Great days and lovely people.

Cant remember Dobsons Garage or where your shop was. Bloody memory is going now. I think it was all that Efes.

Send me your address in Bogaz and I will come and look you up. Much to talk about. Dont worry I wont bring the wife with me. Wouldnt be fair, she drinks too much!

Look after yourself,

John

Hi beach resort,

This is getting better by the minute. Why are you buying in Esentepe.? I guess it reminds you of Quarry Bank! Come on then you Black Country lads. A quick whip round and we will have enough for our own pub. Now thats what I call infrastructure.

Unfortunatley havent been back to the Black Country for about 10 years now, but I retain the fondest of memories.

Guess with all this imput we can turn Esentepe round. Any more Black Country folks out there?

Wynyardman

Only problem with black pudding is you need pork. Not seen too many pigs running around have you?

HI spud1,

A true Christian. Many a warm night spent on Clent! Don"t tell the wife.

Congratulations!!! you have won the chance to contribute to our black Country Pub. You dont come from the right area, but we are very broad minded about foreigners In fact we will take anyones cash (or portable assets). See thread Black Country Pub.

I was actually born in Stourbridge 62 long years ago, but my father did get me back to Blackheath before midnight

I need that Efes.

Let you know the next time I am in the TRNC.

Hi Orangekissie,

Point taken! We have a deal with Asil Nadir and The Gecitkale Project. He is selling all the fruit to Tesco and we are filling the planes up with black pudding for the return flights. We know it will catch on. People will be queueing at the arrivals terminal to get their stocks.

Now if you tried it you would'nt need your car to get up the bank at Greatstone Park. You would be able to run up with your husband on your back!!

Take care,

John

I'm sure I've seen efes for sale in Costco near Star City, Birmingham.

Next time I'm there I'll check.

Hi beach resort,

We live between Middlesbrough and Darlington in the North East of England. We have lived in this neck of the woods for some 34 years now. Before this Worksop in Notts. Before that

Quarry Bank and Colley Gate (Gods own country)

Damn me, I feel old!

wynyardman........How about you beach resort?
