Hi all,
I am intrested to know if anyone has views as to if and when flights from Europe may be available to Ercan directly as oposed to a stopover in Turkey? or will a stopover always be the case?

how long is a piece of string. On very rare occasions (normally on the flights from Stansted) the flight does go direct without stopping at either Izmir or Antalya but thats not very frequent and you aren't normally told until you are flying over Turkey.

I think the stop-over is in for the time being .... that is until the International Agreement between Europe and Turkey comes to fruition.
We always travel via Istanbul from Manchester, the prices are excellent, and the stop-over allows for amuch needed coffee and comfort break. Sorry I cannot help you more.

The best hope for direct flights is through the new deal with Gegitkale airport
(see Cyprus Today paper) which has a deal with Brit. Co. to trade direct &
intends to operate direct passenger flights eventually. I flew into this airport
few years ago when Ercan was being renovated & it is nearer to Famagusta.

hi
for the time being until the chicargo aviation commitee reconises ercan internatinonal airport aswell as the greek cypriots always complaining and blocking efforts to make it happen, stopovers will be still in effect till such time

Spot on UKT, as i indicated long time ago on the old MSN board, its to do with sovereignty, so bottom line, it ain't gonna happen.
