Tracy.

I am sorry to say that I do not think you will be in luck.

The problem is the height of the cargo hold door as I recall it is about 2 inches less than your pet and that does not even allow for the height of the travelling kennel. Turkish would not be likely to accept as there is a change of aircraft involved as well.

Tracy, I had the same problem with my Dobermann Pinscher; from Holland to TRNC. Turkish Airlines could transport the dog from Schiphol Airport to Istanbul, but there the CTA-problem (Istanbul -> Ercan began). I was told the CTA planes were not able to transport the dog because of "an air problem in the belly of the plane". I ended up driving from Holland to TRNC, 5 days I'd rather not remember in detail...

But things may have changed. Why don't you ask KAR for advise?

This is KAR's email address (hope it's still the right one): kar@kyreniaanimalrescue.org

Good luck with your dog!

Thank you both, I thought it was fine as Airpets gave me a quote to get her there from her measurements a while ago, but now say she is too tall.

Dont know what to do I cannot leave her here whatsoever!!!

Thanks again to you both

Tracy

Tracy, it's none of my business, but don't forget to do all the paperwork the TRNC demands for an imported dog. And do it on time! It took quite some time in Holland, so I suppose it will be the same in the UK.

Thanks Dutch dont mind doing all of the paperwork that they demand, if only I could get her there, cannot see a way around any of the rules with flying her into North Cyprus.

Thanks again

Tracy

Tracy - if you contact me off board - not tonight though maybe through Skype to flightholiday , 0871 855 2925 or to info@flightholiday.co.uk we can chat and I with more information I might (might underlined) be able to help find an alternative, creative solution.

We are not the very experienced airpets (so would have tried to approach the problem before as most times there is a learning curve and we check) NB I have been told so far the firm we use were better priced too.

Hi Tracy

I brought my boxer over 5 yrs ago. Defra have rules that say how much space there has to be around the dog and my boxer was too tall to have the stated amount above her with the crate being able to get through the cargo door. I spoke to the people near Heathrow who make the containers...it may actually be airpets but I cant remember...Any how I took my dog up to see them and they measured her and made a container which was longer than the normal ones, and although she was able to stand up and turn around it wasnt as tall as Defra stated it should be. She was comfortable in it, they only charged me marginally more than a standard sized one and everyone was happy! Perhaps give them a ring and see if its possible to take the dog along to them to see what they can come up with..I didnt use air pets to transport her as my dog went as excess baggage, but they were really helpful. good luck

can't you say the dog is 31" and bung him in a 31" crate, he'll probably be lying down most of the time anyway...

I'm sure they ain't going to yank him out the crate and measure him....

Afterall, what's 3" (as Garry Monger once said to his Wife....)
