Please, can someone tell me if flights are still arriving from and going to the UK? My daughter flies out next Saturday with CTA and we are wondering whether to cancel and book via Larnaca - what a shame. Thanks

Two planes with engine problems in the last week + strike action twice in the last week (once theirs once not)

Just a bad week.

If it was me I would not cancel.

Paddywack,

Regardlesss of the airline if something goes wrong with a plane it screws everything up. Airlines can't afford to have aircraft sitting idly by "just in case" something goes wrong with one. A plane that is not in the air is costing a company money. KTHY run very tight schedules and any problem has a serious knock on effect.

Even the better airlines suffer a plane is late arriving or departing. BA once told me that once my plane from Istanbul arrived and was turned around we would then leave for New York. It left Heathrow 2 hours late. It then couldn't get another reasonable time slot to leave Istanbul and so was now 3 hours late. By the time it arrived back at Heathrow it was now even later due to "poor weather" that caused a mid air diversion. We left Heathrow 5 hours late. In fact there was a funny side to this.....2 flights, ours and another, to New York JFK left within minutes of each other. The Americans must have thought we'd started an invasion!!!

We had previously flown with Pegasus but their prices this time were a joke compared with CTA. I think we have all forgotten that it was not long ago that it was expected to wait (sometimes for hours) at airports but over the past few years we have come to expect, and have not been disappointed inhaving flights leave on time. I shall buy a good book.
