Does anybody know the safest route from UK, via Germany, to TRNC. Preferably ferry from Italy to Greece/Turkey/TRNC.

We did it last year with a car and trailer, camped all the way. The route we took was Hull - Zeebruge then drove through Belgium, Lux., France, Switzerland, Italy; Ferry from Ancona to Cesme, drove along the south coast of Turkey then the dreaded ferry from Tasacu to Girne. This ferry gets slated all the time and rightly so, it is a filthy tub, but thankfully the journey is only over night.

if you want anymore info get in touch.

I did the route from Berlin to Kyrenia in the year 2005 with a MB Sprinter. I went to Italy / Venedig from there to Igomenitza in Greece as the ferry to Çeşme was not operating. In Greece we used the coast road + high way and could sleep in the car without problems, even beeing December. Passing on to turkey was a bit diffcult because of the customs as the car was full.. Ended up in 5 hours getting stuff out and in again.. Later the officer told me that this route was one of the biggest drug smuggeling route.. anyhow.. in turkey you can drive via istanbul or canakkale then - ankara - konya - karaman - taşucu.. very simple.. If you are in çeşme you should head to konya on the high way as the coast road is very small and full with idiots.. - coast road is only nice in summer and if you can drive relaxed as there is lots to see.. good luck

We travelled over in September 2007 via Germany. Crossed by Eurotunnel, drove south through France and cut accross at Baden Baden (missing out paying year's car tax in Switzerland) and stopped 1st night. From Baden Baden travelled towards Stuttgart, and took south motorway to Kempton. Before travelling through Austria you need to purchase 1 month car tax (was approx 8 euros). From Kempton we travelled over the Alps, views were stunning, past Innsbruck, and then descended into Italy through the Dolomites (again stunning). Stopped 2nd night in Dolomites. 3rd day made south through Italy, past Bologna & Modena and caught ferry at Ancona. 3rd & 4th night at sea (travelling through Corinth Canal) and arrived at Cesme.

Stayed night there, and headed towards Aydin, motorway ran out, and made it to Side where we stopped overnight. Last leg was to Toscucu and caught ferry to Girne (overnight). Travelling through Turkey was most engoyable, on ferry was an experience I would not like to repeat!
