Has the baggage allowance gone back to 25kg hold and 5kg hand? If 25kg, can it be split into two cases for the hold and still take 5kg hand? Flying Man - Ercan Saturday and wife insists on bringing kitchen sink.

Minertor - Tell her the kitchen sink is OK but not the pots and pans! As far as I am aware at present the CTA rules are as you have them in your message. Tom IAH Ltd

Gatwick recently, they tried to say it was 20kg baggage & 5kg hand baggage, which they weighed! Much discussion but didn't push it when we protested, perhaps because of late opening of check in and big queue. There was then a long queue to get through security which left 10 minutes before flight was called (bang went meal & shopping) having got to airport prior to 3 hours before departure. Oh what joy travelling with KTHY from Gatwick is. I feel a letter coming on.....

Minetor - IAH have not been notifed of a one case rule with CTA Hector - I think the member of ground staff in Gatwick maybe had not been advised of the rule change or maybe your ticket was marked as 20 Kg from when that was the CTA rule If you had a tour operator ticket they might have a special agreement even though you are on a scheduled plane the TO ticket is like a charter and can have different rules applied.

25kg in total Splits into 20kg main case & 5kg in cabin luggage, but you can get away with a littel more in your case I have got througf with 27kg in summer. The total weight can be split up to more than 1 case but mind out they might charge you £7.00 per KG over if they are in the mood, smile ask how their day has been, make then think you care, worked for me !!!!!!!!! Good luck leave the sink behind

It's blue and old gold, ya heathen and I don't need to pack it, keep a full set here, Leeds Utd, Leeds RL and England. I did split the luggage 50kg in 3 cases, don't think I'll be doing it again though, flying KTHY, that is. For 6 years I've supported them, defended them against all comers, but no more. On Sat we were a little late boarding, not passenger's fault. The flight attendants were tryintg to get people into seats before their haned luggage was stowed. Take off 12-55, 25 mins late. 1-45 trolley dollies bring food and drink. We were row 7. I asked for a G & T and a beer. Only got G & T. When she came back down I asked for a beer, "beer finish" she snarled. At Dalaman the 3 attendants took row 6 for the flight to Ercan. All through the safety instructions the were talking and laughing. After take-off the 3 seats reclined sharply, startling us behind. They then covered themselves up with blankets and snoozed. At Ercan, after the plane stopped I retrieved our overhead luggage

msg 11 cont: As the front passengers began leaving the plane, the attendant in the aisle seat asked if she could pass me, I stood aside and let her. She turned round and told me to let her two co-workers pass too. By this time the front four rows had emptied. I told her they could wait as we all wanted to get off. I didn't understand what she said but I don't think she was wishing me good health. She intimated that they all wanted to be together, I offered to let her back to them. I told her that they were passengers, just like the rest of us. If they'd wanted to be off first they should have stood up when the seat belt light went out, instead of waiting until the door opened. These were the worst flight attendants I have ever encountered, though not the first KTHY 'ers to leave me thirsty. The couple in the centre and window seats in our row asked for a bottle of water, my wife passed them one from her bag. The attendant did come with one eventually. Not my best flight ever

Something similar a few years ago, 'beer finished' however, going to the toilet past their work station the door to one of the 'fridges?' was open and stacked with tins of Efes! Liars! Richard

Was it a contracted out airline or CTA, on our flight from Mancheter to Ercan a few weeks ago my husband asked one of the attendants if she knew a CTA Pilot friend of ours we were going to stay with, she said they didn't know any of the CTA staff as they were another airline personel contracted out to CTA.

Wow minetor, don't you scrub up well. The two of you look very smart. CTA staff can be a bit of a lucky bag. Might be a dodgy flight but at least you are there. Hope you and your family have a great few months.

Some of the KTHY flights are operated by a Turkuaz A321 (TC-TCC) in KTHY colours but with Turkuaz crew. Sometimes they do a crew change at Izmir or Dalaman and KTHY crew take over for the next leg to Ercan. This happened to us on our flights in June. I also agree - surly things the lot of them. Cheers, Ralph

Forgot to add, we are on our way out again on Saturday, staying in Bogaz this time (we stayed at the Topset near Kyrenia in June) but travelling British Airways to larnaca - a much more pleasant experience is hoped for!

Now look here you ungrateful lot. You have to appreciate that the world owes TC's a living owing to something that happened in 1974 probably before the majority of air crew were born. Obviously this 'living' they are owed is a gold plated inflation proof one with pension. You have to take into consideration that it does come with onerous conditions attached like turning up for work. So remember this next time you fly KTHY & be sympathetic with their plight.

I know working with the public can sometimes be tough, but a smile and general courtesy goes a long way, not to mention a glass or two of wine during the flight.

It is a while since I last flew CTA as it has not been practical for me. 1] When I last flew on it it was much improved to the "old days" food and staff, the seats were still not that good though a little better. 2] I have always said as a client toward the staff " a smile and general courtesy goes a long way" to quote boglefan. (If CTA had more Birmingham flights I might well be back on them so more up to date.) Tom IAH Ltd
