Hi everyone,

Can anybody down Esentepe way tell me where the lake is and how I can get to it? I have been to my bungalow at least six times now and didn't know until today that there was a lake nearby. Many thanks

Hi the butler,

I hope that you can find it!

Would'nt it be wonderful if it came from an Efes spring?

Hi,

Leave Esentepe, head towards Girne, at the Valley View Restaurant (on the right) near Alagadi take the left turn up a track at the fork take a left and you will come to the lake. You will need a FWD vehicle as its a rough track and not suitable for road cars.

Hi Coffer,

So not in Esentepe at all? Still I will try and go see it on next visit to TRNC. Thanks for taking the trouble to reply.

There is another nearer Alagadi, coming from Esentepe go past golf course and as the road sweeps down and to the right (small black Sevilla signs on your left) There is a track going down into a big valley on your left, follow this and you will see a pumping station, the lake is at the back of this.

If you get to the nature bay development then you have gone too far.

Another way to find all the lakes in the TRNC is use Google earth. You can even zoom in and find the road/tracks that lead to them.

Another lake is near the first one mentioned above. Go to Arapkoy, head for all the new villas and keep going. The road eventually runs out and becomes a dirt track (going down the mountain). Just keep on it and you will be at another lake. 4 X 4 needed.

Do bear in mind that the locals eat carp and I have seen many caught and eaten, so stocks are getting less and less, especially as the water is getting less and less too!!

Happy Fishing.
