Hi

I know you can apply for ptp yourself but don't know where to go. As my friends are looking at buying a resale would love to know where you apply. When we applied our estate agent did it for us and only charged £200 (if memory serves me right) from start to finish.

My estate agent 'did me a favour' by only charging (£500) half of what the lawyer would charge. I now know all he did was fill in a form and hand it in at the property office in Lefkosia (1st floor Bakanlik Mufettisi), turn left by the Jeep dealer, first right, look for white building lays back by large car park.

We did it ourselves a couple of years ago - info was on HBPG website at that time. From memory you type up a letter in Turkish stating location, size and type of property - the HBPG website had a template and you just filled in those bits. Take copies of the contract, your passports and the originals of the subject access form obtained from Police in last country you resided in (or currently reside in). It's not too difficult and costs nothing.

Here is the link http://www.hbpg-trnc.net/documents/purchaseper.html

We have bought 2 resale properties in the past and it doesn't make any difference to the procedure. It is the same whether you buy resale or new.

As come on aylin states, look at the homebuyers pressure group website and if you get stuck you can always go to one of their meetings at the Pia Bella for advice/guidance.

Good luck
