I've barely started posting here, Yet already I can't seem to find a way of getting email notification to posts. Is there any? Secondly I tried posting (New Topic) about some stray or lost cats in the area we live, yet I kept getting a mssg saying my post was too short and I had to be more descriptive. The message was descriptive enough. Each time I open the Home page I get a reminder about posting my face on this forum. For what? Is this mandatory? Why? Could the Admins please consider trying something like V-bulletin for the forum site as it really is very good and easy to use. Hopefully I'll remember the New Topic heading so that I don't have to search for a few minutes trying to think of where the post went and what page it might be on!

And I thought that I was daft. Just give it a few attempts Sid447 and you will get used to it. If I can then you can. Chegwin

Hi Sid447. After many years with computers I've learned that users are never stupid - it's always the software that's not intuitive enough ("user unfriendly"). To answer some of your questions: 1) This board doesn't offer email notification. 2) Your message was most probably not too short - the title in the Subject most probably was. 3) Board owner Izzet says he tries to build a community and he has strong feelings about his idea. It means: no graphics for an avatar - (real) photographs of users only. It's not mandatory, but you CAN help charity when you send your picture (see: http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/26154.asp ) 4) Implementation of new software (options for this board): mail Izzet. 5) There's a Google window on top of the pages. Usually one word is enough to find your own posts. Another possibility: go to your profile (left of one of your posts) by clicking your nickname. Scroll down and you'll find your own (recent) posts.

Once you have posted you can go to Edit member info and then click on see you member page and it will show you all your posts and you can then click on it to find where your post went. It is about as user friendly as it comes unless you create enemies but then you can always try a truce. Paul ps welcome on board by the way

Continued from msg 3. To collect the URL's of your own posts (and other interesting ones): make a new folder in your browsers Bookmark bar. Drag and drop interesting URL's into the folder or use the Save Bookmark option in your Browsers menu. I hope this is clear?

Sid447: One of these days some board member may mention a "truce" on this board. Don't look for a "truce-button" though - there isn't one. A truce is when two members agree on ignoring each other on this board. It works. Both members may live longer, because one will no longer get enraged all the time and the other one will not die from laughing before his time has come. P.S. A truce can be cancelled of course when both members have their feet on the ground again and agree on trying to communicate again. I haven't seen it happen yet, but you never know...

Slightly off-topic (I apologise): Are there members out there enjoying an official truce (definition above in msg 8)..? Please mind: ignoring certain members (after clicking your virtual "Ignore-button" or after adding them to your private blacklist) doesn't qualify as an "official truce"!

Funny thing you know Dutch but you even try and make yourself sound higher than thou when you describe the truce and you wonder why I get irked by your comments. I am pretty sure people can work out what a truce means but I could be wrong, then again maybe you were just trying to get in a subtle dig. I won't start all the tosh again but thought it might be useful if you decided to describe something you only know half of the details in the future.
