According to this thread: http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/26554.asp Sweetwater bay took their customers to court to try and silence them because they opposed them managing the site. If this is the case, why are they being given an award? Last year Seaterra won several awards and yet they mortgaged their Reserve site for £2million (still unpaid) breaching contracts in the process. I'm surprised Gary Robb hasn't been awarded one for selling the cheapest properties. These awards are not voted for by the public or customers and entrants enter themselves and pay a fee. There are many good developers here, but I would suggest the Property Awards panel who judges this does a bit more research before they give out these awards because it will become farsical.

I'd just like to say 'well done' to everybody who won awards last night, I'm sure they all work very hard to get things right and it is nice to get some recognition for it at the end of the day. Not everyone is a crook, as many people on here would have us believe.

The idea behind the awards is to recognise all those that have helped to raise the standards and to recognise all those that have worked hard in the past year in the Development, building and sales of properties here in North Cyprus, I say a big well done and congratulations to all those that made the effort and for putting the time in to preparing for the awards, and a big congratulations to all the winners.

Why is everyone so Negative. Lapta tel has it right. There are some companies here that are trying to do things the right way and change the perception that most people have of builders, estate agents and the TRNC property market in general. People are quick enough to come on here and moan about every little thing, but when people get recognition for raising the standards you all jump on them still. Some people are never happy.

On the night it was generally quite honest as many of the speakers realised that the Property market here has had a very bad, but justified, reputation over the past 5 years. But a night like this should be seen as positive for the island as companies look to raise the standard. Is that not what most of you on here have been asking for?

I was invited to the awards by friend and I have to say that it was a brilliant night. Property NC magazine did a fantastic job and Mehmet Ali Talat was there to present the awards in person.

CONGRATS to all the winners

So the history of this property awards is following: AGD Solar Trading Ltd. was awarded the "Energy Globe Award for Cyprus" for the first Zero Energy House developed here in Cyprus. Many papers wrote about this ( http://kibsolar.com/content/eng/news.html ), so I ended up also giving an interview to NC-Property magazine.

They must have thought that giving a kind of award makes great publicity and to my surprise one year after our Energy Globe Award (which was handed over at a Gala Dinner in Brussels EU Parliament) the NC Property Awards were born..

I think its the 3rd Award now, and I dont see anything changing in the TRNC property marked, still no sustainable building quality, no proper isolation of houses, no means of using pasif solar energy or similar. Its realy sad watching. To give this awards or not, it only for the papers and eyes. Many customers are blinded by a bit marble and a pool.. The problems come after signing the contract and doing the pre payment..

Happy livings :

On behalf of all the various property related Industries in North Cyprus, Busy Bees Estate Agents in Bogaz would like to confirm that the panel of judges who worked voluntarily were from an independent body of professionals who are all highly expericed in thier own particular fields related to the Property Industry. Our Agency, as all entrants, undertook a professional interview of over an hour after submitting huge amounts of work for this entry. We are also highly honoured to have received an award, platinum, for best marketing campaign, and would also like to congratulate everyone else that won awards and indeed particiapated. We aslo extend our thanks to the North Cyprus Property Magazine, which have made such an occasion realtiy, and of course the judges for taking their time to visit everyone who entered this wonderful competition. It was a huge pleasure to attend such an event. We are all looking forward to the Living Property nc Magazine to annonce details for next years event

BTW: I am not knocking this NC Prop Award, just wanted to inform how it came to this event and that I dont see any progress within building standards in TRNC. What counts are pools and marble and other optical facts. That the awards are fun is out of question. Lots of people to meet, lots of drinks and food.. Thats great.

Happy living

BusyBees - re message 42, you say that you submitted a lot of work for this award and had an interview of over an hour for it. Obviously there are many who deserve to win an award, but if this award is designed to promote the construction industry positively then IMHO the judges need to do some homework with the customers to ensure they don't become farsical. The organizers could send a standard email to the customers asking if there is a reason why the nominated party should not receive the award, eg mortgages on land, breach of contracts, as was the case with Seaterra last year. These are very important issues which would boost the construction industry if winners were acting properly and proffessionally.

Mess 46- This insinuates that all winners act improperly and unprofessionally, just because there was a problem with one of last years winners doesn't mean everyone is the same.

It's a shame that all some people want to do is put people down and not give them the credit they deserve.

No wonder nothing improves when all people get for their efforts is a kick in the teeth.

Congratulations to all the winners

Sunrise, I didn't say everyone is the same. I said that many deserve to win an award. Do you not agree that if customers had an input in these awards and the nominees were shown by those customers to be acting properly and proffessionally that that would have far more positive impact on the construction industry? What better way to pomote good practise and proffessional behaviour than being voted for by your customers?

Yes it would be good if the owners had a say, but on this occasion they didn't, maybe next time they will, but for now lets just congratulate those that did win and assume the judges had the integrity to vote for what they thought were the best in their opinion, rather than complain about the way it was done.

All of you that have plenty of negative to say about the awards why don’t you go and visit the developments & sites that won and just see why the awards are given out.

Is ok knocking something when you have not even looked at the standards and quality of the winners’ sites & developments?

In answer to that no it is NOT so go and visit all the winning sites & developments then make your personal comments.

Excuse me - no don't!

You must be extremely naive if you dismiss what Kibrissibel and countless others post. She has worked tirelessly for HBPG (Home Buyers' Pressure Group), in case you haven't heard of the sterling work done by this organisation.

Perhaps you are blissfully unaware of the property tribulations suffered by so many foreigners and TC's, alike?

The biggest advertisers in the property magazine are Henry Charles, Busy Bees, Sweetwater Bay and London Cyprus Homes. The biggest winners at the property awards were Henry Charles, Busy Bees, Sweetwater Bay and London Cyprus Homes. Go figure as the Americans say......
