Our little dog was poisened yesterday in the village. Please be careful. WE have been told that a Cypriot man told one of our neighbours{Gypriot) that he was going to put poison down because her dogs always barked at him. They were just little minature breeds and not in the least bit frightening.Unfortunately our sweet natured friendly pet was the victim. We know this man very well and he is thoroughly disliked by everybody. I will not name him on the forum for obvious reasos, but if anybody wants this info please E=mail me.

I hope you reported it to the Police - or is he likely to get back at you some way? After all it must be illegal????

It's very difficult for the Police to do anything unless you have proof. Thanks for the warning, it's our worst fear. I hope you dog is ok.

Please report it to KAR as they keep a register of when and where poisons are being placed. How is your poor dog?

If only someone had proof, because it is still a criminal offence from the days of British rule. The law is still on the books and it is punishable by a prison sentence at the most and a fine at the least. BUT you must have some proof.

I am e mailing you separately, but it really is time these people got caught. We had the same thing here a couple of years ago. No culprit was ever found, nor any known reason for the placing of poison which resulted in the death of dogs, cats and birds.

Do the police ever try to find the culprit, somehow I doubt it.

Do we know what sort of poison these people are using and where they get it from?

sorry to hear about your dog ,however it may be prudent to knock up a couple of posters in english and in turkish saying that poison has been laid in this area ,to warn other pet owners

Very very sad , sorry Tiger , are you able to talk to this person at all ? is he capable of understanding the effect of his action ? you should try and talk to him , if no other reason than to let him know that you know it was him , and to tell him what your grief feels like , and due to his inhumane action , he has caused your little dog to die , and inflicted so much heartache to your family .

Regards , Simbas

If you contact KAR I think they have posters in both languages saying that poison has been found in this (ie the area where you put the poster) area and I am sure would be happy to allow them to be copied.
