Is it easy enough to change from the pull up toilet flush types to the one that you just press down. Had one of the (flapper? type weighted ones fitted). But still problems....

Thanks

Very easy, and once done you dont get the usual problems.

Brilliant! We are mostly ok with it, it is just when you have visitors and they pull the string harder then the toilet just keeps overflowing. Will get them changed over. Thanks.

Thanks

It's getting better. Thanks Gooligan. Why didn't I do it before.

Glad I asked now!

Bought mine from Coban trading too, same price as gooligan 25 YTL each.

I'm not sure what type gooligan bought but when I looked they had two types in stock, one had two button flush and the other was just a single button. The two button one is so that one of the buttons does a 'half flush' which obviously saves water when not doing number two's but I opted for the single button due to the drainage system in cyprus not always being the best and it always needs plenty of water to 'help it along its way' down to the sewage treatment plant.

Also, the single button one is slightly less complicated and allows you to remove the cistern lid completely at any time as the push button is not directly connected to the cistern by a cable like (from memory) the two button one is.

Gooligan must be very quick or I am too muck of a perfectionist coz although not difficult to do I think 5 mins is a little optimistic to ensure all is fitted and sealed correctly.

I can't remember exactly but give Richard a call. I know he got the parts from Çagra. They are much better than the pull up type plus they have half and full flush so you can save a bit of water. One of them has given us a bit of a problem in that it can stick in the down position if pressed too hard.

Btw, I always use Fernox LS-X this whenever sealing plumbing fittings, great stuff. Not sure if it's available in TRNC as I brought mine over from UK.

Millzer, thanks for pointing that out.

Come on Aylin, will have a bash at them myself as sounds quite easy. Thanks!

The two button ones from Çağra don't connect to a cable, i.e. you can lift the cistern lid off easily.

Neither do the ones from 'Homebase' - I paid about €16 ea. - bought 5 (Twin button/economy flush - definitely worth the little extra, and adjustable for the 'economy' flush), some of which I fitted for friends - but five mins. to fit is a complete exaggeration. Part of the leaking in to bowl problem is the TRNC/Turk ball-cock (metal) bit, which doesn't allow the in filling bit to close off completely, due to the lime having such affinity to metal - I changed mine to plastic - also sourced from 'Homebase' - these were quite a bit more expensive than the Turkish equivalent - but, hey, which are you liable to trust - Turkish, or ones that meet Brit specs.?

Since the changeover from TRNC bought crap, I haven't had a single problem yet - touch wood!

Your choice!

Message 12. Fair enough aylin I couldn't remember exactly and I may have been confused with one i've seen in the UK. Still the one buton one is best for me though I feel. Forgot also to mention that the kit also comes with a new vertical float valve system that does away with the traditional ball valve the latter of which used to scale and seize up. So if you buy this kit you hace two things to fit, 1) the new flusher and 2) the new float valve so yes def more than 5 mins to do both, but as said, not difficult.

Had several different types fitted and none of them stopped the water leaking out. They worked fine for a few days then back to square one with the pump coming on every 5 mins or so.Don't know what to do !!It never happened to our toilets in uk.Tried cleaning out limescale and all the other things people advised but no luck so far.

Well Roisin (Msg 15) - the message/advice is clear; fit the 'Homebase' cistern internals and be free of your problems!
