This thread has at the moment 102 views http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/29650.asp

And this thread attracted 1360 views: http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/29546.asp

Hmm.

Shameful, actually.

Dutch, i dont know you, but i respect your right to have your say. Its a pity that you dont seem have the same regard.

Leave people to decide for themselves which posts to read and what they want to post. After all, as has been said before, you dont have to read posts if they dont interest you!!

Hans maybe its because a lot of us have donated via our phone network or bank card, however it is a shame that we talk more about the weather than a disaster. i pray they get a lot. On reading another board it shows what the EU have given along with major organisitions here, on another board they are doubting it will all get to the source xxxxxxx Such a shame if true

RE msg 2: I'm afraid you don't quite understand my point. I suggest you click the two provided links and you may think different.

RE msg 4: Indeed, Lillie, the weather attracts more attention than a local disaster because of the weather. What more can I say? Isn't that the point I made in message 1?

Yes and well done you DC you have done that but as I said many have already done their bit. Plus..and I know there is no comparison... but maybe some folk here are just feeling a bit bruised themselves this week.

Just for your info Dutch, i along with many others have donated via my mobile phone for the appeal. What i find annoying is the fact that you continually tell other members what they should or more often should not post. The latest comparison is castigateing mebers for looking at a weather related topic rather than one which you feel should have more interest.

RE msg 7: Vidal, I really wouldn't dream of judging people whether they have donated or not. But I find *the lack of interest* in the thread about homeless people (not people without their second house, mind you), started by Tom, shameful indeed.

I must say I was also rather surprised but you can't make people do things (horse and water comes to mind). There are some other considerations like the weather post has been out longer and people might be weary and wary at this time.

It would be nice if some people just went that little bit further but they have their pockets and maybe a beer to consider too. I say some because some others never ever seem to stop giving and helping even then more “do gooder types” are needed all the time.

At then end of the day I repeat please give what you can to help those who were flooded in Guzelyurt last week.

Before this thread is derailing further: this is not about donating or not - it's about *interest* in subjects: weather and a local disaster.

RE msg 8: (...) What i find annoying is the fact that you continually tell other members what they should or more often should not post. (...)

=> Too bad. There's a lot of things I find annoying or boring. We have to live with it.

Well live with it then instead of telling folk what they should post.

There is also a facebook page about the flooding which has photographs of the area and the damage that has occurred. Many people may have seen it already, but it brings home the terrible loss that the residents have experienced.

I am afraid what you have here is a culture difference. British People are conditioned to talk about the weather. They are no less caring or charitable or interestedin the plight of their fellow man because of it but it is their nature.

Just in case anyone is wondering, I gave on the day when happily I was in TRNC (of course it was raining!)

I received a text at 11-04 am on 27th. re. making a donation. C44 was offline at the time. I didn't read Tom's post, I don't even recall seeing it. I suggest that many members may have shared the same experience. I don't mind being classed as one who thinks more of his pockets, or his next beer, nor do I wish to be counted among those who blow their own trumpets, continually.

Dutch - do you have special dispensation to ignore this particular 'Forum Rule'?

7. New Topic Titles

Use a title that describes the content of your post.

Do not use all caps or special characters to draw attention.

You seem to put both CAPS and special characters at the beginning of all your thread titles.

RE msg 20, Oleander: Thank you very much for your interest in my behaviour on this board, although once again your interest is rather selective. Did you check all Subject titles on Cyprus44 or just mine..?

Anyway. I can assure you that I have no special privileges on C44 nor are the rules bent to my advantage. I suggest you complain about me with board manager Izzet or one of the moderators. Maybe you can make them give me a warning or even ban me for a day or so? Wouldn't that be nice?

In this thread I tried to attract attention to a local disaster - it is aimed at people who may have missed or forgotten the text message sent by Türkcell and Telsim. How sad that someone than reads "the Rules" to teach me about them.

P.S. In Netiquette your post is called hijacking the thread.
