I want to come to North Cyprus for holiday, but having incredibly hard time trying to find flights.

I tried Cyprus Turkish Airlines but their rep keeps telling me I should later because prices were not yet set.

3 choices:

1) Wait CTA for prices. When r u coming anyway?

2) Fly with Turkish Airlines. You must call them to arrange tickets to North Cyprus - can't book online.

3) Fly to Larnaca Airport in south. Keep in mind that airport transfer from Larnaca to Kyrenia costs around £40 one way.

Thanks Izzet.

No problems with border crossing, right?

We heard that sometimes when you are coming back, they won't let you in.

Barker,

No problems at the border.

I've been doing this for 3 years now. It's much easier to find flights and it's direct (no stopover in Istanbul).

Just had problems crossing back to south. Very aggressive search and unpleasant experience.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience - not the norm. Other way to cross from south to North Cyprus more easily is to book a transfer with a Northern Cyprus car hire firm. They will send a driver to collect you from Larnaca, will drive you to Nicosia, bring you across the border and your North Cyprus hire car will be waiting for you.

I have also heard that the border crossing can be bad ( but sometimes OK).

The real cost of going south can actualy be higher than flying through to the north so talk to an expert UK bonded agent who specialises in the TRNC

I use one and find using them helps and because I stay with them they also go out of their way to help me.

Just seen on trnc villa owners bb:-

News just in 04-01-07 11.00:

DearAgent,

The Chancellor has announced that as from 01st of February 2007 all Uk Departure tax (APD) will increase to 10.00Gbp.

10.00Gbp tax will be taken on all issued tickets who are for travelling as from 01Feb2007.

Cyprus Turkish Airlines

This confirms the APD information we published last year. The cost of this will apply to all flights/packages even if they have been booked and paid for.

The only thing I can offer is to suggest you look at our http://www.flightholiday.co.uk web site and book your Oscar rental car at very reduced rates to make the money back!

All of us at IAH would like wish all of you a happy, healthy, wealthy 2007. We are just re-opening the office and will try to respond to your emails over the next 48 hours.

(We were lucky and just flew into Ercan minutes after the storms and powercuts, I hope that all of you got into North Cyprus as best as you could after the fog problems in the UK - CTA made quite an effort to get you all there including the Luton flights.)

if you're keen to see direct flights to North Cyprus, sign this online petition! (I've already mentioned it on the thread about CTA)

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Direct-Flights/

You need to sign by 5 April 2007 and any British citizen resident in the UK or abroad can sign it. Add your vote!
