cooper - I would have thought that they would probably open all the time flights are coming in/going out. However, having said that, I seem to remember that someone posted on here a while ago that they arrived at around 4.00am due to a delay, I think, and found it closed.

Not much help, I know.

It's a plot between CTA and ........? Knowing that the craft will land well after the duty free shops are closed, you must buy on the 'smoking gun jet' at wonderful inflated prices!

Cooper,

Do you mean the (small) duty free in arrivals just after passport control? If so, I have arrived well after midnight and seen it open.

I have also left at 5am and the larger duty free shopping area upstairs in departures has opened before that time.

Does Ercan have a website, with arrival/departure times as well as details of and opening hours of the duty free shop? If not they should have! Can't have GC's Larnaca having one over us!

Geoff Msg 11

The only websites you're likely to see courtesy of the GC's are a couple of red-backs or funnel-webs trying to work out who to free from a dutifully free life!

Re Msg 13: you are not wrong there Richard.

The duty free shop is open at any time flites are coming in OR leaving. As residents will know you can buy your duty free as you arrive, unlike (for example) UK and EU airports where you cannot (unless ordered when you left). At Larnaca you can only buy duty free when you leave - but who would want to come back anyway? (joke!)

I have caught the 5am Istanbul on a few occasions and have seen that the duty free shops open about 4am!

The GCs could learn a lesson, the Duty Free shops at Larnaca airfield are usually closed outside normal shop hours. I went that way recently to take advantage of a cheap flite to Luton on Monarch (never again by the way, awful flite) leaving at about 11.00 pm and no shops were open, even the cafe had little to sell food wise,

and the whole place was tacky in spite of being a newly built terminal.
