Hi Cooper

Booked parking for two weeks and one day from 6 June in what used to the called "The Pink Elephant" at Stansted - £57.80p.

We've used this car park a few times now and always book on-line.

Yes, that's the one. I should perhaps point out that this is non-refundable.

Sorry for the delay - had to confirm with him indoors it was the right place and he was out buying wine

Cooper - we have been offering you Holiday Extras car parking over the flightholiday web site for well over 6 years and they are always good. The price is the same as on theirs direct and is cheaper than on arrival etc.

- help support http://www.flightholiday.co.uk and the service we give by booking it though our link as they pay us for those sales as do many of the other travel sites we offer there.

Flightholiday was set up to give you an on line travel agent and one stop travel shop.

Try http://www.airport-parking.co.uk and the promo code BN207 it will save you a little on the Holiday Extras price.

Jeannie's dates in message 5 would have come out a little cheaper still at £54.91

There is a £1.50 booking fee for Visa payments, but no fee if paying with Maestro

millzer - well done for pointing that out

Him indoors will be heartbroken when I tell him tomorrow morning ...AND he asked me to get a paper booking confirmation (cost - 0.99p) because we've run out of printer ink and he can't be bothered to get another one!

On a slightly more serious note, does anyone remember when the cost of parking at Stansted was really prohibitive?

Another thing at Stansted for anyone that doesn't know, they operate an ANPR system (automatic number plate recognition) which reads your number plate and 'should' let you through the barrier automatically after a minute or so, BUT, this doesn't always work.

if it doesn't work you have to press the button for a ticket and it lets you through, which is no problem in itself, but just be aware that on your return to the UK, because you pressed for a ticket on arrival it assumes that you did not pre-book. This happened to us and on approaching the barrier to exit the car park to go home it said there was an excess charge of £197.00 !!!!!!! and directed us to the manned pay booth. Luckily for us we had the printed copy showing that we had pre booked and the guy let us through and on our way but I guess without that printed copy as proof we would have had to pay and claim it back at a later date, so just make sure you always have a copy of this on you in order to avoid any hassle.

Thanks for that millzer that would have saved me a further £3.90 in the Mid-Stay. I've saved the link for future reference.
