I know there is a severe drought affecting the island, but at this stage can anyone tell me what the current water supply situation is around the Esentepe area?

The reason I ask is that our complex management company have informed us of the difficulties in obtaining water, and informed owners that if our storage tanks run empty then we will have to source our own supplies!!

Personally, I would have thought that they are better placed than us to so find a supply, but in the light that they cannot, then where can we obtain water from?

We are on mains water and it is only switched on twice a week. We got about 0.5 tonne on Saturday and another 1.3 tonnes today. On both occasions we had emptied our bottom 2 tonne tank and therefore the pump no longer worked. We are very careful with water and use about 7 tonnes a month for 4 people. The water suppliers in the Esentepe area have agreed on an increase to 12ytl a tonne for delivered water from today, up from 10ytl per tonne. They all seem to have 5 tonne tankers. When asked why the increase, the answer was supply and demand - the hotels put their prices up in July and August so we are too.... It will be interesting to see if the prices come down after peak season.

Paul,

We are on a SeaTerra site.

Aylin, thanks for the info. Aside from the cost, are you actually having problems finding someone to supply water.

Not at the moment but I suspect that it will get harder as the drought continues and the wells dry up. It can be a few days between order and delivery.
