Pegasus hand luggage

I have just rang Pegasus and asked if my laptop would be counted as part of my 8 kilos hand luggage. The answer I received was:



a) don't worry about that at this end (ie Ercan) as they don't really care how much you take on board



b) from Stansted you will have to remove your laptop from your bag and they will then weigh the bag and its remaining contents only. The laptop will not be weighed.



I don't really feel confident about the response because when I tried to get further clarification I kept getting the same story and this was from a native English speaking person.



Has anyone traveled recently or know for a fact what the details are as I want to know whether:



a) My 8 kilos actually includes my laptop



b) Whether I can take more than one piece of hand luggage as I will be carrying my laptop.

Hi , we travelled the past monday , dont know if this helps , but we took as hand luggage 1 small suitcase 7kgs , 1 bag 4 kgs , 1 laptop 1 handbag between my husband and myself . the only thing they weighed was our hold luggage , both cases were just a kg over so we had to pay £16 extra baggage , they seemed to be very hot on this .

Always travel with 8kg hand luggage, leaving enough room to pop my handbag, book etc. into the bag, then always have my laptop, wires chargers etc. which always gets tagged with a cabin tag no questions.



They are getting very hot on hold bags. T'other half came via Stansted yesterday he was just under a kg over and they made him shift some stuff into his hand luggage.

......but what really annoys me is this - once you get into the departure lounge - you can buy anything (well almost) - and weight issue doesn't come into it when you are spending your money in the airport stores - funny that!!!

our friends came back this week and were told they had too many pieces of luggage. they each had a hand luggage bag plus a laptop and as my friend, i think correctly stated, the rules say you are allowed to carry a laptop seperately. the guy booking them in eventually agreed they could indeed carry a laptop seperately.

yes i take my hand luggage bag and a laptop when flying with pegagsus - never had any problems.



it's true msg 5, however last time i got to the plane, the lady that helps board looked at me and my bags and asked how i got them through check in... erm, i went shopping once in departures?! i know some airlines have a one bag limit, such as easyjet but pegasus don't so was a bit taken aback by her asking!

Having just come back from UK, I can confirm that Pegasus did not weigh my laptop or laptop bag.

i prefer messanger bags to backpacks, backpacks always look hiker and frumpy, messanger bags are much better.

We have been stung twice now. Should have taken clothes out at check in and put them on untill weighed. After all it doesn't matter how much you weigh going by the family behind us.

Be careful when coming back.

I recently returned from Stanstead. On the outward journey I carried a small wheelie case, no problem.

At Stanstead, the girl quieried whether it would go in the locker. I said it was fine on the way, she did

allow me to take it on the plane in the end, but I won't risk it again.

Once on the plane, there were people carrying much larger bags than I.

Flew back on December 1 and laptop in bag wasn't weighed at Ercan or at Stansted. At Ercan there didn't seem to be any problems with luggage weight at all. The lady in front of me in the check-in queue had two suitcases weighing 31kg in total and wasn't asked to pay any extra.

They are more hot on this at Stansted as it isn't Pegasus but a company used by Pegasus.

Rules are rules, but when are they always the same?

We flew with Pegasus last December and as previously said there was no questions asked at Ercan airport bregarding carry on baggage.



On the return flight from Stansted, Servisair [handling agent at Stansted] insisted that items were removed from one carry on bag because it weighed more than 8 kgs. They told us to extract the items [even though the weight of the items was going to be the same] and place them in a carrier bag [this meant that the passenger now had two carry on bags]. So, the rule about one piece of hand baggage per person was ignored. After check in the extracted items were put back into the carry on bag by the passenger!



None of this makes sense.....or are we missing something????



They are very strict at Stansted and we did understand that the rule was that a Laptop was classed as one piece of hand baggage to weigh no more than 8 kgs.

If you know in advance that you will use more than 20Kg, when you book your ticket you can buy extra allowance at 50% of the airport price, £6 per kg.



You have 20Kg hold, and 8kg hand baggage. If your hold baggage is 28Kg and you have no hand baggage they should allow that. Otherwise, people hold up the queue by taking stuff out of the suitcase and putting in to carrier bags to carry on.

Travelled many times with Pegasus on business and they have never included my laptop when weighing my hand baggage so I always carry two items - cabin bag and laptop.

I think the rules shown on the Pegasus website regarding hand luggare is crystal clear!



This is baggage taken onto the plane by the passenger. Each passenger is permitted one item of carry-on baggage measuring 20 cm x 40 cm x 55 cm, and weighing a maximum of 8 kg.

The following are allowed to be carried on board without subjected to extra cost.

If there is no room in the cabin for these items, then they will be stowed in the hold and carried as checked baggage.





One hand bag suitable for traveling,

One overcoat, shawl, scarf or blanket,

One bag of duty-free shopping,

One umbrella (except those with pointed ends) or walking stick,

One baby carrycot or pushchair (can be placed in cargo),

One small camera or telescope,

Books and magazines to be read during the flight,

Collapsible wheelchair or pair of crutches (to be placed in cargo)

Baby food and carrycot to be used during the flight

One laptop computer

Tony Msg 23 - you are correct simples - I tend to tell clients that it is 5Kg as a safety thing because then they do not end up with a problem
