Well, if the £99 flights exist we northerners are again being discriminated against.

I have just checked prices from Manchester -- £180 each way!

Blackbird, Its all about supply and demand. Ten years is a long time in commercial aviation history.

There is little competition for flights to TRNC from Manchester.

Its CTA or CTA, unless you do Turkish and change in Istanbul.

Its time for Pegasus to start flights to Ercan, they do Antalya and Dalaman from Manchester, why cant they add on the bit to Ercan?

Yes I agree with what you say Duster. For many, many years we have put up with prices/service from CTA.

There have always been rumours of other airlines flying to Ercan..............but they have always proved to be just rumours...

Hi sorry just got in. Checked going out on 10th May and coming back on 17th its showing £99 from Heathrow. I too am from North (Preston ) have you had a look at either flying down to Heathrow or national express coaches were offering £1 travel a couple of week ago don't know if they are still doing so.

Hi Brend

Yes I agree its possibly cheaper to fly from a London airport but there are disabled people (like me) who just cannot cope with the hassle of getting down there, so, again, we are discriminated against.

Hi Duster

I am not saying it is better to fly from the south and the sooner we get cheaper flights from the north the better!!! It was just that I had an e-mail from Cyprus Paradise and thought it might help somebody get a cheap flight. On the subject of Disability my brother is disabled (in a wheelchair) and will not fly. I am trying to persuade him to come to TRNC with us on holiday. How hard is it to board and disembark and can you book the first row on flights?

To be honest the Monarch flights are decent prices from Manchester to Larnaca. Of course you then have the bother of getting a taxi over and of course that adds on the price but certainly worth a look.

I do not have to use a wheelchair fortunately, but do find travelling a trauma. To get from home to Stansted means 3 changes on the train and Heathrow is 2 changes, so I much prefer Manchester, it is less than an hour by car or direct on the train, plus the fact that you spend the money saved on the airfare on transport to the London airports.

You can choose your seats on the CTA website, I dont know about other sites, and I have seen wheelchair users lifted onto the plane at Ercan using a special vehicle with a cabin that is lifted to the door of the plane. (I dont know what these vehicles are called, I suppose all airports have them)

It was good of you to try to help others avail themselves of the cheaper flights, and I hope you persuade your brother to fly to TRNC. CTA better as you do not have to change planes in Turkey. The sooner Pegasus uses Manchester the better!

NanaJan, not being picky but Monarch flights arrive back at Manchester in the middle of the night.

Not really fair to expect someone to pick you up at 3 in the morning, and I think the first train (for these parts)leaves about 6am!

Just a personal thing, but knowing what the GC's think about people who go to the TRNC, I prefer not to support the economy of the dark side by using their airports or airline.

Thanks for the info anyway.

Hi all,

My daughter in law is in a wheelchair and she flies all of the time with absolutely no hassle. When you book you just mention that you need wheelchair assistance. You are first on the plane and are lifted up on a specially designed lift and sat at the front of the plane, then when you reach your destination are lifted back off. You are then wheeled or taken on a buggy to passport control, all hassle free.
