Just buy and erect a 4.2 metre dish. Couple of grand sterling.

join my-private-network £5 a month, then use that to change your IP to UK, after sign up to skyplayer.co.uk and choose your packages there starting from £14.99, its cheap, its fast, and you can cancle your subscription whenever!

All you need is internet connection though

Marky has said he didnt want major monthly bills, to get the TV you mention he would have to subscribe to Internet which is more money than Digiturk!

I mean turkcell could do the job but it does drain your GB's.....Nethouse has a minimum of 3 month contract, which can be frozen inbetween and put back on arrival, so you won't loose out on subscription. Not sure how other internet providers work.

Both my private network and the skyplayer doesn't have a minimum contract time, only monthly payments for how ever long you will be using it for, then it can be either frozen or cancelled altogether.

It's cheaper than getting a massive dish

Stella, your IP is automatically a Turkish located ip address. To change this to a UK ip address so that the "internet" thinks you are in UK, you can use various different methods i.e. my-private-network.co.uk (I highly recommend) there is also hide-my-ip.com....These websites provide you with systems that automatically change your IP for you when selected, and you can then gain access to bbciplayer/skyplayer/youtube UK channels and so on.

We recently had Iceman who is well known on this site, to fit a 1.8m dish on our apartment roof ( price £550 ). Brought our sky plus box over and we get many Sky Programmes on the entertainment package including sky news, bbc news, itv, chanell 4, channel 5. and much more. You also recieve the premium sports packages but unfortunately not sky movies. However you can get TCM and a few poor movie channels. I am told many people take the sky multi room package in the UK to get a spare HD Box and card for £10 a month then leave this in Cyprus. Only problem is after a power cut you have to reprogramme frequency to 1220.7 this is a simple task however.

Hope this helps,

Just had this done my self, (remember do not tell sky you are doing this) If you have sky in uk tell them you want it in another room as well 'seperate' box you will be charged an extra £10per month take this box to the trnc you will need a 1.8 metre dish put up £500 not the £2500 one, cant remember the satalite it points to but the fitter will sort that plug your box in and thats it you got sky for £10 per month and dont let anybody tell you diff because i am watching it as we speak and have had no probs been 5 month now clear as anything,

good luck

Dear Jay76

you have been EXTREMELY lucky.. when ( of if) SKY twig you will get a letter - asking that you comply with m/room t's and c's and after 3 of 'em you ( and non-compliance by you ) will pay the FULL amount ....

I wouldn't 'shout' about it, if I were you...

re 14 Toonie

Glad to hear your 1.8m is working out so well for you ;)

Please note the freq is 12207 !!

If you can take out an HD box you would get quite a few more movie channels .. the HD channels are stronger

re 18

Just to repeat it any way

ITV

add channels [ services 4,4 enter freq 11973 - change nought else - store ITV1 Central E by highlighting it and storing using the yellow button ]

ONLY works with a valid sub or FTV card..

mmmmmmm all you got to do is bring it back to uk now and then as marky says its a holiday home so when back out in the trnc bring it with you simple. i know sky ping your box but some times you got to remove the box to do the decorating and some decoraters take forever if you catch my drift. also mmmmmms sky know people are doing this and have done for years so its not as if sky are going to be keeping an eye on cyprus44 user's only.

marky yes that is £500 sterling and yes i would recommend the ice man just watch out for his dog.

Hi Jay76

IF you get the dreaded letter, you have to leave all your receiver plugged into the same UK tel no. for at least three months, as SKY ask the boxes to dial an 0800 number - they have modems - and the txt file sent tells SKY where they are..

SKY know it goes on, they WANT biz abroad.. they just can't be seen to encourage it - for reasons of contractual rights ..

We don't have a telelphone line connected to Sky, so we could just use our sky box?

We have two SKY boxes, one is HD, We have bought a Freesat card from SKY (but haven't activated it yet). We had hoped to carry on paying the SKY subscription but as we won't have a UK telephone line we think this will cause too many problems, plus the cost would be too great.

So we are left with the two boxes and the card. Anybody got any advice on what to do with them please? Can they be used over in the TRNC?
