Hello, can anyone help me please. I am at my whits end and don't know where to turn. I have a holiday home which I bought two years ago and have not been able to get it let in all that time. The mortgage comes into force within the next month and I can't afford to pay it. Am I able to tell the bank that they can have the keys back and walk away without all the legal process. Any advice to help me resolve this stressful situation would be so gratefully received. I just want to walk away and put the sorry state behind me.

So sorry to hear about yr problems Jackii. If u bought it from an estate agents could you ask them to let it for you? How have you been advertizing your property ? If you've given up trying to let it.Ask an estate agent to sell it for you.You need advice from an estate agent(free)or a lawyer(not free)There are so many things to consider ie how much is yr mortgage, where is the property,is the water and electric connected and working etc, I think the first thing to do is contact the company/agent you bought it from and ask about a resale. I can't help about the bank but you could always ask them.Sorry I can't help more but you've given very little info.

Im afraid you would have to divulge more details i.e. price, location, and things you have tried to rent it, then i am sure people could comment further and hopefully lessen your stress levels

There always seems to be plenty of people here looking for long term rent so maybe your pricing is wrong. As others have said, give us some more info and maybe we can help.

Thank you everyone for trying to help. The property is located in Liopetri and we have tried to sell it but the banks have made it virtually impossible to obtain a mortgage

Last time I was there Liopetra was in the south near Paralimni,

Don't really think people on this side can offer much help.

Unless the mortgage is with a Brit bank?

Kavenkoy. I've tried to send you an email with pictures but can't get it through to you on this forum site. If you are interested perhaps you could let me know how I can get the pics (video) to you?

Thank you for all the help everyone, and no, I can assure you sceptics this is NOT a wind up. The mortgage we took out 2 years ago, before the recession hit. The mortgage is with Emporiki bank and they gave us a 2 year gap before the mortgage payments come into force. 6 months after taking the mortgage out they added another one and a half percent to the original mortgage rate. The mortgage payments are going to be approx Euro 1,000 per month - not too bad before the Euro started to match the Pound.

We live in the UK and the distance makes things more difficult to get things sorted out. Does anyone know of any good letting agents etc who would be pro-active in getting this place let, we haven't come across any yet!!

All helpful will be gratefully received. Thank you

Jackii, you really do need to be asking these questions on a site that specialises in South Cyprus.
