I want to book a flight for cyprus. I have seen the flights going to ercan are more expensive than those going to larnaca. Two queries 1. do the flights to ercan also stopover in instanbul 2. cab hire £40 from larnaca to NC this is the price I have seen quoted on here, is this a one way price or the return journey? How far away is Larnaca from a popular resort in NC. Thanks

Hi Jakeen,

The £40.00 fee that you have been quoted is for one way.Think its about 75 mins drive from Larnaca to Kyrennia crossing the Metehan border,

Regards,

Paul.

Depends which airline you are using as to where they stop in Turkey. Most of the time it is Istanbul. They always stop in Turkey for about 1 hour before flying onto TRNC.

Hi Jackeen

if you can avoid a flight with a stop in Istanbul do so , because it usually involves a change of aircraft, and Istanbul a/port IMO is chaotic.

If you want to fly to Ercan try to get a flight that goes via izmir or antalya and always check that it does not invovle a change of aircraft on any route as this is a lot of hassle and ofcourse makes your journey a lot longer .

Flying to Larnaca is easy and yes usually cheaper, the taxi fare varies between £40 and £60 each way and yes the journey can take upto 75 mins, you just have to weigh up the pros and cons and do what suits your needs,

good luck

kind regards

The only flights that definitely involve a change of aircraft in Istanbul are with Turkish Airlines. Pegasus fly via the other airport in Istanbul (Sabiha Gokcen) and you don't have to change. CTA fly via all different airports as previously mentioned and I have flown with them numerous times via Istanbul and have never had to change aircraft. We were turfed off once at Istanbul very late at night, sent for a long walk around the airport and then got back on the same plane but that was years ago.

some friends just flew home from larnaca 300 sterling per flight. other friend booked to fly this weekend from ercan to stansted with cta and paid 150. if you fly with cta you don't have to change plane. most time i have ever spent waiting on the plane in turkey is 40mins. i think it is quicker to fly to ercan than to larnaca if your coming to the trnc.

I must admit that it was a good few years ago when the change of aircraft thing happened, it just made us very cautious for future trips.

The dentists bill will be over £1000 for a bridge. The nreak is only noticeable to me so I will have to wait till some time in the future before having it done. The birthday celebration was great but I did not get home till the early hours of the morning and I am only just coming alive now. Now I'm going to bed so that I can get up at 5.30am in the morning to go car booting! Just hope the sun is shining and I get lots of bargains that I didn't know I needed! I will look for flights sunday night as my hangover will not allow me to make sensible choices just now.

If you travel with Pegasus or CTA you do not get off plane in Turkey, the now new prices for transfers in legal taxi from Larnaca is now £50 each way with most operators because of fuel prices going up, many more planes is delayed flying into Larnaca than flying to Ercan

stickle,

I think someone saw you coming at that cost. Did you ask before you booked the taxi how much it would be? Also did you seek alternatives?

At that sort of rate I think I will joing the "illegal" brigade, got to be worth it!!!!!!
