Took my friend for her return flight to Stansted to be covered by Atlasjet at 3am today. Flight cancelled as Atlasjet have withdrawn their offer to CTA. Like the rest of North Cyprus travellers we wait for an update.

Teepee, where do you get this rumour from? As far as I know flights are being cancelled today because of a rally by unions angry at the proposed privatisation being allowed by the TC court yesterday.

Try speaking to Ankara Travel!!! No airline will speak to CTA to do a deal and they are advising passengers to consider alternative ways of travel. My friend will wait a few days then book with Pegasus so she can get home to UK.

They (CTA) were grounded on 21st June, Atlasjet were going to cover their flights but talks failed and now they can't find another company to take the flights on. So we've been told. If you know beteer then tell us PLEASE.

The lack of any press releases etc from the Gov't makes the situation even worse, why does not someone(anyone) tell everybody the state of affairs ???

My friend is due to go Colchester!!!

There is NOTHING on UK TV or press about the problem. We are just so thankful to Ankara Travel for their help trying to sort this out.

Msg 5: I think it is difficult for the government to make an announcement at the moment.

What do think they will say: "We took £10,000,000s from the public and sold 100,000 tickets, but squandered the money on employing mates... We now have run out of money, and can't fool AtlasJet or Pegasus to fly everybody about for free...."

Even if they were to make up some lies and make an announcement, they're too busy trying to get elected in the local council elections.

The only way this is going to work is for the current owners of CTA to sell off the airline lock, stock and smoking to another airline, who will not want any partnership. The airline, and the HRW slots are worth a lot to a company who only have to answer to their shareholders.

The airline will be re-branded and hopefully will be run more efficiently.

CJtill, Msg 10:

Sell what? What are the assets? The planes are leased (and in arrears!), the staff are too many, and the liabilities/debts are $100 Million.

The slots people keep mentioning are next to worthless. The majority are at STN, and anybody can just apply for those and get them.

The only slots that exchange hands for millions are the DAILY London Heathrow slots in the morning. CTA do not have any daily. Last time I looked, they had the odd slot on Monday & Saturday in the afternoon.

In any case, you must have a valid flight licence to sell/keep slots and use atleast 80% of them. Their licence is terminated, so slots are forfeit.
