Hi,

Our 1st time to Cyprus. We are collecting a hire car from Interrent Car Rentals at Altinkaya (1 mile East of Kyrenia). By the time we get there from Larnaca (we land at 01:15) it will be about 3:30am (???). Will I have problems driving to Tatlisu at this time of night?

How long would this take (presuming I don't get too lost)

Thanks

What sort of problems are you thinking of? Do you mean you don't know the way?

Hi there, Tatlisu is about 20 to 25 miles (approx) east of Kyrenia. Keep on the coast road. Traffic is quiet at that time of night but there is little or no lighting on the coast road after the Arapkoy turn off. Head towards Essentepe but stay on the coast road past Essentepe, (don't turn up the hill into Essentepe village), for about another 6 to 8 miles (approx). Tatlisu is well sign-posted.

jsy,

Get the Altinkaya to direct you back to the main road and turn right. Go along the road until there is a fork at the Acupulco Hotel, turn left there. There are signs for Esentepe and Tatlisu. Just keep driving along there, from memory it would be nearly an hours journey so it will be daybreak by the time you arrive there and you should be able to find your villa providing you have directions from the owner.

It is a sraight run along the coast road so you shouldn't have any bother. Have a good holiday.

I suggest a taxi or lift, the first time travelling can be daunting as you have to stop at the border produce your passport etc . The taxi or car hire would sort this for you and show you the ropes so to speak .

Why don't you get your car hire to collect you from the airport ? just curious .

Chegwin,

The question was:

"Will I have problems driving to Tatlisu at this time of night?"

If you don't know the way, what difference does the time make?

Pipie,

Read the post!

It looks like they've got collection from the airport arranged - he says that they'll be setting off from "Interrent Car Rentals at Altinkaya (1 mile East of Kyrenia)"...

Just one point re msg 6 - the left fork is BEFORE you get to the Acapulco Hotel, so you can't use that as a landmark!

If you find yourself going over the mountain, you've missed the left turn

Thanks to all with the useful replys.....

My general question was based around how long the drive would take, road conditions, etc.

All looks ok, hours drive and quiet roads.

I don't have the exact address yet so can't be more specific. Can't wait to get out there, will trawl this site for any info on the area.

Many thanks

Steve

Hi

It is simple enough to drive to Tatlisu from east kyrenia you just head out the main road with the sea on your left as you leave Kyrenia be careful of speed cameras. Take the left turn for Esentepe / Acapulco / tatlisu about 4k from Kyrenia. Continue on for about 20/25 mins passing esentepe and golf club you come to a t

T in the road turn left here and continue on to roundabout Tatlisu village is the right turn left turn is Sea Terra Marina. I reckon if you put the name somebody will be able to direct you to the door.

It takes about 35mins from Kyrenia to Tatlisu

We always use the new mountain road when we drive from Larnaca airport to Tatlisu, cuts out the road from Acapulco. approx One hours drive !!
