Well got result from visa Today. We had our money refunded in full off Visa

Sent Visa a copy of a printed document from the Forgien & Commonwelth official web page, Which stated that CTA had ceased trading and to contact your travel agent and seek alternative arrangments. As we booked direct with CTA VISA agreed that the artical was indeed a valid point and would act accoringly

Anybody else had the good fortune to get reimbursed

Smity...any chance you can send me the wording from the Foreign office as the original message does not appear to be still on their site? We need to make another claim through Barclaycard for another member of our family. Thanks.

Great news - how long ago did you ask them for a refund ?. I sent all the info I had to Sainsbury Visa (which is part of the Bank of Scotland) yesterday. We were due to fly on the 27th July. Just to add to the situation the credit card I paid for the flights with was in my purse which was stolen last week ! Many thanks for all the info.

Was this the info published on FO site today and was your visa company Barclaycard please. I have been sent forms which in no way relate to what I am trying to claim for. I am thinking of taking the Christmas tickets to TRNC (re-booked with Easyjet) and hopefully swapping them for Atlasjet.

Have just completed my claim forms and got together lots of information to send off to Mastercard but a copy of the statement from the Foreign & Commonwealth office would be good to send as well.

I have searched their site and cant find the information at all - Smitty could you email it to me if possible and obviously anyone else who needs it please.

It sounds as if only people who are willing to travel to Stansted and maybe Manchester stand a chance of a flight so Heathrow , Birmingham and Gatwick are right out of the question. I'm glad that I've rebooked and still going from Heathrow but thru the South ( which we've always said we wouldn't do). I am keeping everything crossed for a refund .

From my perception, Atlasjet are offering about 400 jobs to CTA staff, a reduction from 700. I think they are banking on these staff to accept the new T&C's and need the staff to then start flying planes to clear the backlog and fly the CTA passengers. I beleive the Atlasjet flight to stansted was cancelled on the 12th and 13th July. And I have heard that the unions representing the 700 cta soon to be reduced to 400 have been told not to turn up for work. This may explain the cancelled flights on the 12th and 13th also explaining why Atlasjet seem to still be selling their own tickets rather than giving preference to CTA passengers.

The government surely must take note of the way the UK banks were bailed out because of the knock on effect it would have had to the whole economy. The beaches will be empty and the locals so dependent on the tourist sector will all be on hard times this year.

I am lucky to have booked ages ago with easyjet, travelling sat 17th stansted-lca.

My wife due to business reasons was booked on the doomed CTA flight for the 18th July returning the 8th Aug.

She runs a business and could not take the risks involved with Atlasjet. She has to be back on that date.

Although Atlasjet have opened new daily flights, I predicted further chaos. Last week I got her a new flight via LCA, cost £350 for the same dates.

I've been following the Turkish TV news and have been trying to second guess the likely outcome of the summer schedule.

Malcolm Msg 24 - Cyprus Turkish Airlines are not in liquidation nor are CTA Holidays

KTHY have ceased flying and that is not the same.

Having ceased flights makes it harder for claims and for everyone who is trying to resolve the situation. i.e. Tour Operators like ourselves, card providers, insurers, the CAA etc. as none can draw a line under the situation or try to resolve things.

According to UK companies house data today they are not disolved so one assumes not in administration.

i know you have good intentions but what ever you say the whole things is an absolute mess

1- Most tour operators have not got a clue dont even ans phones

2- Atlas jet a big joke everybody knows there not enough seats

3- the whole thing os planned to make people so fed up they give up

everybody should go to the credit card company and claim therie money back thats if they booked with credit card also you may get back from debit card

the whole things a joke

i did not know easyjet flew stn-lca ???? how can the TRNC take not of bailouts when its a prime example of

being bailed out itself for the last 40 years??

Al your comment i am trying to guess the outcome of the schecule how intresting i would be most

greatful if you could work that out as i belive nobody even atlas jet knows or more sadly cares

what the shecule will be as all they are intrested in is getting their money per flight

Tom I agree Cta are not in administration or called a meeting of creditors .

That costs money which they do not have and no creditor is going to petition for the winding up of the company as they would incur costs with no chance of recovery of the costs let alone the debt .

The planes will no doubt be repossessed I would have done so if it had been my leasing company & Unless Atlas can negotiate a deal that is satisfactory to the leasing co they will not have any planes for the next two months after which they won't need the planes as the season will be over & dead ,do we spot the cunning plan!

For all those who have used credit cards and booked with CTA

Also debit cards with the visa logo (I may have this one wrong way round it could be mastercard one does & one doesn't offer cover) the service and dates they booked are not being provided eg BHX to ERC 1/8 return 14/8

Syilvya Msg 26 – IAH (flightholiday) have as many problems as any other tour operator with this situation and with our passengers flights/liabilities. At IAH we also have tried as far as we can to help and advise people who are not our customers so please do not make me sound like a "well intentioned do gooder". We act, not just write messages!

Using the wrong terms muddies the view and muddles the position far more. Which was what I was trying to make clear and this poses a huge dilemma for all the people that I mentioned in Msg 25 even the FCO.

they have a valid claim on the cc /debit company for the refund of the payments and if they baulk threaten them with consequential loss they will soon focus their minds and use the ombudsman if you are finding them awkward

flightholiday, the disputes department at Barclaycard looked up their merchant database found CTA and THEY TOLD ME that CTA was in liquidation. I respect your knowledge of the travel industry but I think I'll stick to the term given to me by Barclaycard.

if 400 staff can do the job of 700 then that is the reason why they are in such a mess in the first place.

The Halifax Master Card has just credited me for flights dated 17 July '10-Atlas couldn't fulfil my flight to Dalaman, and their flight on that day is Anatalya which is completely useless to me.

I didn't need to complete any form, just laid out my case via e-mail

1) When I purchased my tickets, from airline, and my E-Tickets as an attachment.

2) Referred them to the FCO/ATOL sites.

3) Recorded the telephone numbers I had rang, and when, from which I received no reply/ negative reply. I went into some detail here, basically the information I was receiving was that Atlas were not going to do Manchester-Dalaman, 17/07

4) Copied the names/addresses of UK agents that appeared on Atlas website, and results of my contacts with them.

5) Attached word document showing Extra Flights from Atlas didn't have a Mcr-Dalaman flight, 17/07

6) Did a bit of legal-no longer an anticipatory breach of contract, but an actual break in contract

7) Claim: non supply by CTA. Not insolvency.

I have spoken to my credit card company today (Sainsburys visa) to see if they have received my paperwork. the nice lady there told me even if we refund to money to your card the other peoples merchant bank still have 45 days to challenge it. I don't think I will be spending any until after that date. We also have to give friend back some cash as they paid us for their flights as we all booked on one credit card.

Hello Lindy,

Yes, my CC Company mentioned something about 45 days-but I was so elated I didn't listen to her story!!

Am I right in saying Halifax go to CTA's bank and ask for a credit, if CTA's bank don't pass the funds to Halifax, then Halifax can come and get the money off me again????

If so, I will cancel my CC with Halifax immediately after settling all accounts.

thats how I understand it ( i am willing to be corrected) still not happy as that means it could take up to 60 days before I can garantee I have the money back. You will also notice that it is goes on to your credit card not a cheque so you cannot put it back in any savings accounts you may have taken it from and as I say we still have to give back to our friends their share of the refund which they gave to us in cash to pay for the bill when it came.

The credit I have received has actually wiped out all of my debt to Halifax leaving me in an a credit situation, i.e. they owe me £100!!!!!!

I was intending to use this windfall at the Duty Free!!!

If CTA/TRNC were/are doing it properly, they will be able to counter the claim against them by MasterCard and say that your booking with reference X with CTA was exchanged on your instruction and agreement to the booking with reference Y with AtlasJet.

Msg 43 + 44 essentialy I think you might be correct. You could also ask your c/c company if they would be willing to pay for or make a contribution to your costs/losses which otherwise might have cost them a lot more

Hello,

Just got a letter form Halifax-they have "temporarily" credited my account. They say if the company's (CTA) bank does not agree Halifax's actions, they will contact them with mnore information, which they will send to me for review.

Anyone out there know what are the chances they will take the money off me again?????

For once we are blowing our own trumpet.

At IAH Ltd (www.flightholiday.co.uk ) we have tried to help quite a few people who are not our own customers during this CTA problem.

We have tried to help on Cyprus 44 (seemingly according to some we do not know our own business; so I am not so inclined to try to help others as hard as I usually do with the KTHY problem – sorry goodwill can wear out).

Many TO’s will not finish sorting out this problem for weeks to come.

Of course we had our own clients both ATOL bonded and supplied as a ticket provider who had problems and who needed our help.

Happily our clients did not need to resort to the credit card route (we looked after them).

Tonight as well as our normal business we have finally got our last client positioned with ATLAS and as happy as they can be!!! So just this once IAH will blow our own horn & now I can try to work normal hours & days rather than just about the lot.

Just an update I have had my flight money returned by Sainsbury visa this morning as a "manual chargeback" only 45 day to wait until it is really mine. I have also asked if it can be paid back into my bank so I can return it to my savings and they said Yes. Good luck to everyone and thanks for your help.
