I have a friend coming to Kyrenia next week and she is interested in doing some watersports. As I have never done anything like that here can you please recommend beaches East or West that are best for watersports. An idea of prices would also be helpful.

Thanks.

Jo

We went to Golden Bay beach (just before Deniz Kizi in Alsancak if coming from Girne direction) They had jet skis and parasailing, banana boats and diving too I think. Beach is reasonable at 5tl for sunbed and umbrella. Jetskis were 50tl for 15 minutes. Don't know the other costs though.

Any chance of more detailed directions to this beach, our villa is in Alsancak, so lets say directions from the golden lady, many thanks in advance.

We have been going to NC for a couple of years now and believe it or not have yet to get to a beach, mainly due to working on villa but reall going to have rest this time in September.

Chelpet - From the golden lady continue on the main road towards Girne. Go past Starling on your right then past the sign for Deniz Kizi on the left and it's just after that on the left hand side - sign posted Golden Bay Hotel. If you get to Escape Beach you've missed it. Hope that helps

We use Golden Bay all of the time.

Reasonably priced, nice staff and good food that is not over priced.

When you find a place that is populated as much by Cypriots (inlcuding Greek) as tourists, I think you can be well assured about standards and prices.

The water activities are based on the Denizkizi side of the bay but are open to everyone. I think the banana boat and ring are 15 TL pp.

Enjoy! I will be there at the end of September myself. The best time of year.

Lilli do you happen to know whether Sunset been refurbished yet?

When I was out last year Paul ( who used to do the watersports ) suggested it may happen

We used to send alot of our holiday lets down there however last year the feedback was for the most part poor

We stopped going because our kids didnt like the change from freshwater to saltwater in the pool

Yes my kids love it there as well

Ive not seen anything on here about a Sunset refurb so suspect it hasnt happened

We prefer Golden Bay

Oh and we will be giving Guido's a try next month as we are staying in our Alsancak villa for the first time - normally we stay at our apartment on the far side of Lapta I'll introduce himself if you are there

Cheapest and best is Palm Beach, Famagusta (Gazimagusa).
