Hi Riaz

Hope the new restaurant is doing well and all the diners and neighbours are happy. We really did need a good Indian Restaurant as we are lacking in 'sophisticated' dining in the Esentepe area, although there is ofcourse plenty of excellent fresh and delicious meals on offer in the local restaurants. We used to use your Karaglanoglu restaurant a lot before we moved to Esentepe, but when you're on holiday, you don't always fancy the long drive over to the other side of town, especially if you fancy a drink, so the new restaurant is an attractive prospect.

Hopefully you are managing to keep things as quiet as possible for the local residents and you can both co-exist happily and for the benefit of all.

Looking forward to paying you a visit on our next trip over.

Very best wishes

Susie

PS Do you do a good 'King Prawn Balti Madras?'

Esentepe Hotel do an excellent chicken curry, plenty of it.

There was also a bun and dip for starters, chips and choice of salad or vegatables

All for about 23 lira

Not quite the authentic experience I'm looking for when I go for a curry, I'm afraid.

No offence or anything -I'm sure it is very good !

Drive along the coast road towards Bahceli & Kaplica and keep you eye out for the signs to Jashan's on the left. It's painted a sort of terracotta colour and it's difficult to miss as a result.

Won't be terracotta for long, not with this sun! It will be motley pink by the end of the summer.

The one and only curry I had at Esenteppe hotel was like a Birds Eye ready meal. Absolute rubbish and have not been back.

If that is your ideal curry then give Jashans a miss brcause his food has always been excellent and I assume that it will be the same in his new restaurant. I look forward to my next visit.

I had vegetable curry when I went to Jashan's. It was the best veggie curry I have had anywhere, including Bradford.

Went to this Jashans Tuesday as we have friends in the area and always visit Jashans local to us with good results ! but was horrified as to the location which seems to be a house on an estate ! I feel for the residents as i would not want a restaurant of any kind next to me ! I am sure that more suitable premises (Commercial) could have been found ? it was very funny to see the waiter struggle with the trolley over the pool grille and the noise was "rattling" ! however it does seem that every effort has been made to minimise the inconvenience to locals !!! regards Barry ps message 9 ! Authentic !! neither is sitting around a swimming pool on a housing estate ! ouch !

Re Message 17

I do appreciate that it is the 'all round' meal experience that makes a good night out, and that includes the location and the ambiance, but when I am talking about authenticity, I am referring to the quality and taste of the food, and I don't really mind if it is served alongside a swimming pool or elsewhere, as long as the over-all experience is a pleasant one.

After all, if we really want true authenticity, shouldn't we go to India -too far, yes, I know !!!!

Susie ! the "Indian" restaurants we know were created for the UK tongue and are far from "authentic indian" food ! if you went to a retaurant in India and asked for a chicken vindaloo they would stare at you as if you were nuts ! however as I said in my previous post we have always been pleased with the food at any of the "Jashan" chain as they do resemble the ones back in UK cheers Barry

My best curry ever was at Jashans and it was a cottage cheese curry. It sounds revolting but it was delicious and there was plenty of it. It is very rare that I cannot finish a meal but this one defeated me!

Try their Beef Dopiaza... it's very, very good. Beef as tender as can be and a lovely blend of fresh spices that complement the rest of the ingredients...

I've had the lamb Rogan Josh too and that was equally as tasty.

Oops now I've got withdrawal symptoms!

Barry

How true ! The same can be said of Chinese restaurants. We have been to Malaysia many times and sometimes you really cannot tell what you are eating, especially in the Hawker stalls. Also, on one trip to a chinese restarant over-looking the Thames with a Chinese friend, they thought they were doing us a favour by ordering all the 'authentic' chinese dishes, such as fried jelly fish (bit like fishy chewing gum -for advanced palates only) and other unusual dishes that I can't recall now but had never heard of and will never order again !!!

Well, for me, I like my curries madras hot and without the masala sauces and preferably cooked fresh ! That is my version of 'authentic' -sorry !!!

Re Msg 17, so you see why we did not want the restaurant here! To be fair to Riaz, he is doing everything possible to be as non-instrusive as possible but when we get southerly winds, the smell is terrible... burnt offerings come to mind. That said, we have had two meals there and they were fine.

I just wish (and PLEASE take note all who intend to visit) that as Riaz has had the ground opposite the restaurant cleared for a car park people would use it and not park on the roads making our ingress and egress difficult at times. And PLEASE do not just take a little "wander" around in your cars as you leave, as some do. Thank you.
