I note that most directions take you through Kyrenia but there is a right hand turn off the main road which takes you over some mountains and brings you in past the Acapulco Hotel Resort. Is there any reason why I should not use this road. This looks so much quicker than going through Kyrenia.

Cany anyone help please

We always use the mountain road, 20 minutes from airport to Catalkoy.

From airport car park, straight over first island, left onto main road, right at next island and over mountains. Meets coast road not far from Malpas hotel, then follow the road to Kyrenia.

Don't know if it's any quicker to Kyrenia, probably a further 15 minutes. Beware of speed cameras!

We always use the mountain road and directions are as msg 2 however there is a speed camera not far from the Ercan turning and there is one on the mountain road as you go through and army camp thereafter I do not recollect seeing one until you get to the first Lemar in Catalkoy but it is much quicker but be careful as sometimes people drive like idiots and want to do the norm for here and overtake on blind bends.

There is also a good restaurant on this road at Buffanvento, you will see it all lit up on the right hand side as you are heading towards Catalkoy, well worth a visit.

If you are stuck behind a slow truck, double your duration if you are lucky. But it is much more scenic. I have used it many times.

I don't like travelling that way late at night though, no lights whatsoever when you start to climb up the mountain road. Usually the trucks will flash the back lights for you to pass when it is clear.

Cyprus 44 has it's fair share of moaners and knockers but the postings on this subject underline why it is such a fantastic facility.

Congratulations to everyone above
