Hi Folks,

More bad news on the travel front. UNITE union members working at British Airports Authority (BAA) owned airports have balloted in favour of strike action. I understand that action can begin anytime after a pause of thirty days.

BAA will be responsible for all 'airside' safety matters relating to airport operations such as fire crews, etc. So if they strike it will mean the airports will be closed. At the moment they are taslking about stoppages from one hour and then escalating upwards to all out.

BAA operate Heathrow, Stansted, Southampton, Glasgow Int'l, Aberdeen, and others.

If employees have the right to withdraw labour then employers should also have the right to withdraw the works from those strikers. If they strike for one week employers should shut down with no pay for two weeks. I know busiensses need the earnings but the workers equally need the jobs. Employment law is too one sided I agree bring back Maggie.
