My flight from LHR to Ercan on flight YK856/56 on the 26th July was distressing not only to myself and wife, but evidently to other passengers around us.The conditions while we sat in the aircraft at LHR and Antalya were so hot and humid that I charge the crew with failing to undertake a duty of care for their passengers. Two complaints were made to the cabin crew but led to no improvement; the cabin crew were at best indifferent or as others observed, simply rude; children were in distress and without water.

I deposited a written complaint to the office of KTHY at Ercan and as part of the incident occurred on UK territory (LHR) I will seek to move the complaint through BAA or other Health and Safety agencies as appropriate.

I have traveled considerably and I rank this as my worst flying experience. KTHY are simply not good enough, not up to it and a very poor flag carrier.

good luck with that .my experience complaining to airlines is a waste of time. have done it a few times . especially when we paid for premium upgradw for our 25 th wedding anniversary to dominican. and there was none we complained on board to be told our money shouldn't have been taken as there was no upgrade on that plane. otheres with the same response. trevor told me when we got there he had ordered champagne and chocolates and didn't dare say anything incase they brought them later. well the mood i was in, mad doen't describe it.

when we returned thompson said it is not their policy to give compo and after half a dozen letters in the same vein said we would never use them again. the trouble with that threat is we have to use them so we got a refund for the champagne and chocks and the upgrade. and a very sorry. 25th wedding aniversary what a joke. what is it with me and celebrations. i must be jinxed.

Think that the last comment is unfair and jumping on the band wagon.

Never had a problem with KTHY and that the number who complain is no higher than any other airline.

The food is good, only time flight was late was when England was fog bound at Christmas 2006. My sister stuck in MAN for over 12 hours said the staff could not have been more supportive.

I will say again my biggest gripe and that is against rude and ignorant passengers who refuse to sit down when plane is loading, insist on chatting in ailes to others when staff are trying to serve food and worst of all refuseing to obey the regualtions when on the ground in Turkey. Staff on other airlines should take note of the way staff on KTHY react - yes they shout at you after being warned. Oh dear me, well whose fault is that. If other airlines followed suit there would be less problems in flight.

Only problem I have with KYHT is they will not accept help at the top levels to try to cut costs.

Re KTHY, over a hundred flights with them, one serious delay for change of engine at Stansted, food ok, staff so/so but who cares as the pilots are excellent. Rather them then Turkish and their long transfers any day.

Only time we had a problem with CTA was about 6 years ago when the air con system wasn't working on the plane when we landed in Izmir. They gave out so much water they ran out. Didn't consider that to be a problem of the staff and in fairness they were as hot and stressed as the rest of us.

I have in the past criticised KTHY for cabin crew (definitely not been on any 'charm' course) as well as their Customer Services, booking systems and Management.

I do however have a lot of sympathy for them.

The last 3 times we have flown from Heathrow, there have been typical minor delays on the apron after boarding.

What follows, during taxying, is endless delays in getting to the runway.

BAA/BA seem to have a policy of penalising 'foreign' carriers, with endless streams of BA craft being allowed to the runway first, while the KTHY flight is held at red lights.

When we flew out in May, I wish I'd had a cam with me! I could have recorded a 1 hour documentary on 3 life cycles of the infield rabbit population before we got to take off!!

Same thing happened on return leg.

We arrived back over Southend in good time, only to end up circling the East End 6 times. Passengers were saying "Oh look, there's the o2 Dome,... again & again & again!

Sorry to anyone affected by a 3rd runway at Heathrow, but it is definitely needed.

Whats the 'carbon footprint' for a plane having to sit in a taxi queue with engines running for 45 mins before takeoff, or circling London 6 times before landing!??

Having flown numerous times with KTHY, mainly from Gatwick, I don't think we have had a delay. Agree cabin staff can lack people skills at times & disappear as soon as possible. Main gripe is lack of leg room and seats that have seen better days. Can't remember if it's the Boeing or Airbus thats better for comfort. Certainly not happy if person in front tries to recline seat. I don't agree that the food is good. That could be improved (steak Diane flambeyed at the table would be nice).

Hi Rob

I think that must have beenthe same flight I was on (the outbound from Heathrow one) we were about an hour late taking off by the time we got to the head of the queue on the runway. We did make the time up though from memory.

poor old kthy

we always found cyprus turkish very good, so far

as mentioned previously they will let you reserve tickets

without having to pay for them until about three or four weeks prior

that is, if you call their pall mall number

and no credit card surcharge either

but we flew with turkish airlines thy in may,

this service requires a change of aircraft at istanbul

very stressful and a near-miracle we and our cases

transferred to the correct gates

also the check-in computer backup software

wouldn't download so we'd qued for 90 minutes

at the counter at stanstead...

Well I am happy that is has not been that bad for most of you and that they are sometimes (or often) capable of getting it right. However, I am a customer and on this occasion it was all very wrong with the potential threat for human health and welfare.

I note some of your advice on a complaint and I shall follow them up.

That was a very grumpy view I gave yesterday and should in no way reflect on the rest of my stay in TRNC which in all ways was delightful. To demonstrate I am not all grump, I offer my gratitude to all those at Bellapais Monestery Village Hotel for a superb vacation; Kibris is one of my favourite places to be and I would not hesitate to return there as indeed many seem to do.

Thanks,

Rob

Sounds like you had a bad experience and appropritae comments need to be made and above are the right places. It is difficult for cabin crew on any airline when they are instructed to board passengers and then shut doors. They have no control as to what happens next. Been there got the tee shirts across the globe as a regular travellers. Once the doors are shut you are in the hands of air traffic control, generators are shut off and until engines are on there is no air-con etc.

What I and many others object to are the follow ups of people who chip in and say the airline are rubbish without foundation. So please accept apologies for the way things developed here. I always come out all guns blazing against the 2 or 3 whingers that try to destroy this and probably any airline they fly with.
