I think previously the number of posts on a thread could not exceed 256 posts. Now we have one over 600 posts and it is a struggle to open it, see http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/41700.asp

Ismet....the number of posts surely just indicates how important the thread is and how much interest in that particular topic there is on here?

Ismet,

Why is it a struggle to open it, it only takes a few seconds?

Maybe my internet is not as fast as yours :(

Previously, once ytou reached 256 posts, you could not post any more under that thread but nothing stopped you starting the same thread with the same name with the addition of say /2 to indicate that it is a continuation of the previous thread. We have examples of this wrt SWB threads.

I take your point Ismet, but following those rules the important Akfinans bank thread would now be something like Akfinans 3 and just have 110 posts.......it just doesn't have the same impact !

Ismet

You must have a dodgy Elex/Elect. connection, it took me 3 seconds to open and get to the bottom. Know wonder my girlfriends keep leaving so quickly!

It would be nice to have the "last post" option on this website, to avoid having to scroll down all the time.

Geoff:

Just press your 'end' key, mine is on the right hand side of my keyboard above the numbers, you will get to the last post straight away

Due to the high interest it generates, this site needs a more up to date forum software to cope with the traffic, such as VBulletin where, rather than having every thing on one single page (on one page threads) you can have different sections for different subjects with multiple pages.

But for some reason i do not understand, Izzet prefers this very out of date forums software.

If you go click on your member name and go into edit member information, there is actually the option of having the newest post first (therefore top of the page and no scrolling required) or last as is the default setting

iceman, I doubt that it has entered into Izzets consideration for the forum but I created a forum for someone else that several members decided to use and they complained that it was complicated, the comment was often, why can't it be like C44.

Some folks are a little less technically adaptive as others.

The end key does take you to the last post and the home key will take you back to the first however that is only after all the messages have loaded and as ismet pointed out not everyone has a fast server, it takes about 45 seconds for that particular thread to load on my system before I can reach the last post regardless if it is set as first or last post view.

I agree that shorter lists would be faster but they would also be much more confusing unless of course the first post of a new extension thread had a link to the previous threads.

Just a thought but I doubt if most members will like the idea of changing, old dogs, new tricks comes to mind.

Thank you Kyprton, Im getting repitive strain from reading about the poor souls whose houses have been auctioned. Its so interesting that you know me so well when you have been a member for one whole day. However I thank you. Isnt this what the forum is about for everyone. I guess you have had a name change. If I look into my crystal ball i will soon find out. You know you do not have to read all the comments.

Thank goodness Cyp44 allows those who are following the thread to continue to do so in one place. When the crime against Pauline's partner Chris is resolved then I think that would be the right time to close the thread, but not until then.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Malsancak.....but unfortunately I think that this will push the Akfinans thread over the 1000 mark.

Will we have a millenium bug type meltdown?

Only because Musin (is he really a London TC?) and Yorgozlu (does he really exist?) think it funny to take the mickey out of people who are suffering at the hands of their fellow-citizens!

I once had a thread that went to 45 ! I even went to pub to celebrate and longed for it to hit 50 while i was out, unfortunatly it never made it.
