Looking to visit for a month Oct/November this year. Since the demise of KTHY which we used to fly from Gatwick (preferably) or Heathrow to Ercan & return, the choice now seems limited to Larnaca. Atlas seems to have given up for the winter. Thompson doesn't want passengers staying for longer than a fortnight, Monarch wants to charge extra for everything.

What's the best advice for us please?

Have you tried Turkish Airlines. I have flown with them a couple of times, and very impressed with their services.

Try ebookers for LHR using TA. Total nightmare using Stansted knowing the 'low-cost' airlines that operate from there are not low cost at all! The latest rumour is that if proved to be a member of the human race the fare price is quadrupled, at least I escape that surcharge!

Try BA from LHR. I haven't looked You may be pleasantly surprised at the cost (£224.10 per passenger) which includes 23 kg luggage and a bite to eat. Sensible flight times.

Cyprus Airways, (also from LHR) is a bit cheaper.

I suppose that when flying into Larnaca you should not put a TRNC address on the outside of your luggage.

Any comments on that please?

Both my Wife, Sister and Brother-in-Law all have flights in October from Birmingham with Monarch to Larnaca for less than 200 pounds each, that's including the luggage.

We did a lot of internet searching and this seemed to be the best price at the time but i'm sure different operators have different prices and deals for different times of the year. It's just a case of finding the best price and departure airport that suits your requirements.

Never had any complaints with Turkish, although they seem to be a bit expensive these days. The rush for the connection at Ataturk can be a bit hair raising but they ususlly hold up the flight if the inbound flight is a bit late.

I dont like having to use Larnaca, but I priced Cyprus Airways flights from Manchester for November which came out about £226, but in winter many CY flights call in at Pafos, adding an hour to the journey. Of course you have to add the cost and inconvenience of getting from Larnaca to Kyrenia.

Unfortunately Pegasus is not an option for us northerners, apart from the few weeks this summer that they flew into Manchester, but even then the fares were horrendous despite being a budget airline.
