I have questions about visa and passport requirements for mainland Turkish citizens crossings into Southern Cyprus from Northern Cyprus. My desire is to make a day trip with friends into the Greek controlled parts of the island. I have an American passport and expect no problems.

(1) Can my companions, holding only Turkish passports, enter at the Nicosia gates into Southern Cyprus for a one day touristic visit? Are there any extra procedures they must follow?

(2) Does anyone have tips on renting a car for the day to tour around the Greek side of the island? I am hoping there is a rental car agency office on the Greek side close to where we will walk across.

The Greek Cypriots would not allow anyone to enter their territories if they entered Cyprus through an illegal port like Ercan as far as they were concerned.

After they joined EU, they had to allow EU citizens to pass through unhindered. For politlical expediency they also allowed American and Canadian citizens to pass through without any problem. the rest is no go to them and Turkish passports is a definite no unless they come to Cyprus through Larnaca or the like.

I think mainland turks aren't actually allowed to cross the border. I'm not 100% but my coworkers said they couldn't go because they were turkish.

I read somewhere that they try to be like the UK, so what is the point in going there?

fosterscan,

Don't they stamp the passports at Larnaca when entering Cyprus for non EU nationals? I think the answer to your question is there.

Re: Msg 11,

They also will be looking for the valid visa for ROC or Schenegen , not only stamp of entry!

Yeniflop

For a brief period in the 19C, NZ was administered from Queensland which proved impractical.

Ever thought of reading and educating yourself in History or life! Start with the alphabet, ABC and then progress to being a human, god forbid, even an adult.
