Why don't you do it yourself. you can buy extending rolles from most Yapi markets.

I did ours earlier this year, it is very rewarding as you save hundreds of TL

hi, yes you will find plenty of people giving silly quotes. I aim to beat them and I can show you some of my work. All my work has come from word of mouth and also the fact that I have beat all customers previous quotes. Give me a ring on 05338829428 when you are over.

05338487556 - A Turkish Cypriot who learned his trade here in England; painted our house here and apartment there in Girne. Speaks English, is polite, tidy, and totally trustworthy. Highly recommend him.

To put thinks into perspective, 2.5l of silicon based external paint at Tayf is 30tl (colour) I beleive white is cheaper.

2.5l will cover approx 25sqm (5m x 5m)(2 coats) I believe.

Now work out how long it should take to apply with a roller on a pole, and cut in round the windows etc.

We have a 2 storey villa, I estimate that comfortably I could paint 2 sides in a day, plus round our windows is a different colour, say a day for all, plus a day to jet wash before starting (if you want a good job), 5 days max.

5 days x 120tl (for a descent worker) plus say 25l paint, add a few brushes/rollers etc must make it about 1,000tl max.

Now, what quotes have people been getting?

Half if you DIY at a leisurely pace.

Add a day to grind out and fill any shrinkage cracks.

Remember, how ever long it takes to apply to the building, it will take about 3 times as long to clear up the splashes and spots if the surrounding areas/railings/terraces/AC units etc aren't covered with sheets.

thanks for the info yrret, yes our quote is 3times that what you have put up, in fact, it was so silly that you just wonder why they bother to give you such a daft figure...

I have tel numbers from above, and thanks for the recommendation, it does help... Thank you people..

2 sides in a day, either it is a very small villa or you suffer from Insomnia, MOST villa,s here £800 ¬ £1000 labour depending on the prep work, for a professional job of course, depends on how often you want it painting.

The making good and preparation of cracks etc is the longest job and staining of woodwork.

I agree with yrret.

I was quoted 4000 TL last week, They were here to do some snagging work from a damp problem I had.

I asked a price for future ref and laughed when they said 4000.

I told him, Max 1000tl plus paint.

He said ok 1500 but he supplies the paint.

I think the way forward is to get them to your villa and say... Ok I supply the paint & will pay you xxxxx tl to paint it.

Tell um - dont ask um !

with reference to scubadoo, I totally agree, the prep work takes the longest especiall if u want a gud long term finish. People who say it can be dun in 2 days are having a laugh, the finish must look dreadful.

hi yrret,

can you tell me where this place is where you can get 2.5 l.t.rs of silicon paint from at 30 tl and is it any good as iam out in January and i am going to paint my outside

if any one is thinking of paint inside or outside i would recomend you put a thermolite addative in your paint you only need to do this once not ever time you paint as this will keep you home cool in summer and warm in the winter.

i have had my own painting and decorating company for the past 22 years,,, in the uk. So do not pay some of the silly prices i have come across.

regards Andy

if you want any thermolite addative emal me at ashevlinpainter@hotmail.co.uk

how long are you out for? Take in account the weather can be very unpredictable that time of the year.

andy&ded,

I got paint from TAYF (often referred to as Marshalls) in Karaglananglu.

Only went on the walls about 4 weeks ago so too soon how good to say I am afraid, but everything else from there has been first class.
