Went to Bells Food Services yesterday to get a joint of beef for today but they had run out. I ended up getting a fillet of beef. It was delicious. I cut off a third or so to use for fillet steaks during the week and the rest I made into Chateauxbriand with all the usual veg and the sauces.

Highly recommend them. The fillet was very reasonably priced at 25TL for the size I got. Would have cost me that for a roasting joint so I was happy.

bigOz, don't know the price per kg, you would have to pop in and have a look.

I just looked at the fillet, looked at the price, decided I could get a couple of really thick fillet steaks out of it (getting on for 2" each) and still have enough for the Chateauxbriand so thought it was very reasonable. A lot cheaper than fillet in the UK anyway

Never mind - enjoy the fillet steaks you've got left.
