ALMOST one in 10 police officers in England and Wales is on sick leave or performing limited duties, according to new figures published today. Almost 9,500 are on restricted duties due to ill-health, according to reports today. A further 2,000 are on long-term sick leave and have been off work for at least one month. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3260537/One-in-10-cops-on-sick-leave.html

Lazy cops are nearly as hard to get rid of as bad teachers, and of course many are a law unto themselves.

Message 1 and 2. The govt are wanting to cut budgets in the police force - retire police early - and we have a right wing paper prnting the stats mmmmmmmmm. What about the stats of the number of police and civil servants that are not sick and undoubtedly the extra work they have perform to cover absent staff, ones who are unable to perform full duties and posts not replaced? The next headlines will be when thing go wrong that has been overlooked not given the priority because of staff shortages and of course we will see post slamming the public services

sorry Plumber how you can compare plumbing to front line policing is beyond me I was a front line police officer for 30 years and yep sure some sites you work on may have problems but then you dont face murder violence dead bodies paedophiles riots plus more on a daily.weekly basis. sure there are some off sick and many have injuries received at work diring their course of duty they are not allowed back on full operational duties until they are fit for that. If not injured on duty then after 6 months they are on half pay after that no pay. Why members on this forum just love to have the pop at uk police I dont know try having a go at the police here.Uk police certainly have a harder time and I know who I would rather be arrested by A lot of the problems are in the governments hands.and the police have to put up with it as they cant and rightfuly so would never strike . Ive met some bazy plumbers but I dont tatrthem all with the same brush!
