TRNC PM İrsen Küçük has said that the government plans to announce the establishment of the TRNC’s new national carrier next Tuesday, the 14th of December. The Premier also said that the state was prepared to transfer more of its own shares to private companies if demand arises.

PM İrsen Küçük said that the work to establish a new national airline had reached its final stages.

Reminding that the majority of the new airline’s shares will be owned by the private sector, the Premier said that the state was not insistent on being a large shareholder in the company.

“Our goal is just to create a national airline. We do not have any such conditions on the issue” he added.

“We as the government had initially planned to keep our shares in the company below 51%. In response to the high demand from the private sector we raised the percentage of private sector shares to 60 % and reduced the state’s shares to 30%.

He also said that the new company’s share price was lowered from 250 thousand dollars to 100 thousand dollars and that a committee had been set up at the Ministry of Public Works and Communications to manage the issue.

When you saw this information did you also see what he was offering to do (in no order):

1] For travellers who have lost money with the demise of CTA

2] Will they refund Tour Operators who are still owed money (from negligible to substantial)

3] Will they support Travel Agents in the UK who have gone down due to the CTA collapse

4] Will they re-employ some of the staff who lost their jobs - The UK staff are feeling it - most if not all have not found any jobs (in the UK where they made most of the money for CTA with fewest staff)

No wonder the government is in trouble, "they will split the airline 60% private and 30% state" ?????????????????????

Someone tell them they are 10% short.

I think the "short" 10% is taken by Turkish Airlines.

More promises from a goverment with lots of mouth and very little action, the sooner Turkey runs the show and gets rid of the jokers that are running this place into the ground the better.

Re No.8: You sound a bit bitter about something Dixie, care to enlighten us as to the cause of your bitterness, or are you one of the ROC trouble makers who sometimes appear on this forum laying the poison! I am NOT saying you are, just asking IF you perhaps are,

Geoff

I think the £15m capital invested will run out pretty quickly from taking CTA passengers whose tickets weren't honoured and the other costs flightholiday mentions in msg-3.
