The new airline for north cyprus has been signed today by all involved. The airline will be called Kuzey Kibris airlines and is 60% private, 30% goverment and 10% turkish owned. They just said on the news that they should go into operation march/april.

Msg 8 - I agree with you that the gap in the northwest needs filling. I'm miles from anyway but Manchester would be most welcome.

Blackbird - I bet you will be correct - Wales is in an airport oasis. Cardiff is very limited especially in the winter.

Lilli - I will wait in anticipation and hope. Last time when I was out at Christmas our best option for dates and decent times etc. was to fly from Birmingham to Larnaca which was okay but would prefer to use Ercan. XXX.

Practically any North West/Midland airport would be good for us...Glasbury I agree Wales is an airport oasis, but it's not too bad for us 'cos we are in the North...

Well I wouldn't touch this new 'national' airline with a bargepole given the apalling way passengers of the previous state airline were treated when it collapsed. Seriously, if you value stress free travel to the TRNC, go with Turkish, Pegasus or AtlasJet, or fly to Larnaca.

Marjorie I just cant see hoe 11 european destinations can be done with just 3 aircraft unless its a weekly service. We wait and see when they have a web page with destinations and prices but they are cutting it fine for March x Maybe this is the one bringing the 700,000 visitors this year. Lets hope xxxx

Using just 3 planes, must be running a very limited service, especially if one or two grounded for repairs/mntce.

Would be good to have flights from Bristol/Cardiff as there are lot of us west country guys here who have to travel to London to fly here - THREE London airports catering for us here, we have at the very east a four hour bus trip to airport on top of the five hour flight - no wonder so many people are flying into and out of Larnaca to Bristol etc rather than having to go through London every time.

would be good flights from, Glasgow or Edinburgh, travelling south adds another 4-5-6- hours onto the the journey flying to SUNNY TRNC.

Don't take long for all the sceptics to stick the knife in. For Gods sake cut them some slack, we have all been shouting for the TRNC to have its own airline, so come on get behind them.

Maybe this forum should change its name to doom and gloom 44,

"The new company did not aim at making profit" - I hope the investing businessmen who are to own 60% of the airline knew about the no profit plan!

If they have no intention of making a profit there is no way the appropriate authorities will allow them to continue. In aviation I'm pretty sure it is illegal to run a business intending to make a loss. There are obvious unfair competition and safety issues associated with type of venture.
