When obtaining a TRNC driving license, is it necessary to surrender one's current diving license?

Also, would the TRNC authorities find it strange if you have a passport from one country and a driving license from another? I travel a lot, and am sort of resident in 3 countries in different parts of the world.

I find the world is not very well set up for "internationals" - and in fact, there seem to be more and more restrictions, esp. re. banking, taxes, etc.

No, you keep your own "foreign" driving licence. FYI, we tried to go South on the TRNC licence, but they would not accept it over the border, and we had to use our UK licence to get the car through the checkpoint the first time when we needed the "mot" paper.

Hi

My wife, who is British, used her Dubai driving license to obtain a TRNC license without any issue.

Just needed it to be notarized by the UAE Consulate as genuine and also translated into Turkish, extra cost of course but the driving school did all the leg work in their "one off" fee

Good luck

Hi,

You only have to produce your current licence for them to take down the details, I done mine through my insurance company cost was 10TL.

Worth remembering that a TRNC licence is only required if driving with Turkish Plates.

They will not accept a TRNC licence in the South.
