Was disappointed. Very Greek biased and actually said that the problem started with the

Turkish invasion. Hardly spent any time in the North, but fat rich Greek shipping guy speaking

(they were rubbish at shipping) with usual prejudice.

Hi Everyone,

Phylray re your message 2.

Your biased and rude comments are extremely unfair and unhelpful.

I hope you provided a more balanced education for your pupils when you were working!

Have read and re read message No.2. Can't see what was unfair or unhelpful. Sounded like fact to me, but I never saw the programme. However, other comments were that it was very pro the south, and that is really one of the root causes of the continued difference - the education in the south about the Cyprus situation.

So, again I ask, where has Phylray gone wrong?

Many people have said that the Cyprus situation cannot be resolved while the history is presented incorrectly in the south and to much of the European (and further afield) world. But of course, there are those who say the history as written is truth!

I have just watched the programme and thought it was totally unbiased and although it was only a short piece it might help to change peoples views on North Cyprus.

Yes, that was me in the show.

I missed it yesterday and will try to see online if I can.

I am sorry to hear that the show was biased.

The car hire company we work with is Fontana Car Rentals:

We allow the cars to pass to North.

I've looked at the car hire website but it doesn't say what happens if you hire a car from the South and have an accident or breakdown in the North. I think a lot of people will be interested in this tie up.

"I am sorry to hear the show was biased"

Izzet many do not think it was. I thought it to be very positive and despite the sad footage of no mans land, promoted a positive youth looking to the future.

Ok, trying to watch it here in Cyprus as ITV does not play the video from a Cyprus IP.

I'll post my view.

Thanks,

Izzet

I think the show was fair also and did not portray the TRNC in a bad light, however Dougskud was I think saying he thought Phylrays comments were biased and rude not the show

I think the program was not biased and was fair.

Nobody should expect the show to refer to the "invasion" as "intervention".

After all, it is an invasion according to international bodies (although TCs would not agree). Note that the program did mention the "after greek military coup", so compared to many other programs, it was much fairer.

Overall, I think it is a positive thing to see the current Cyprus situation portrayed on TV by Sir Trevor McDonald.

Btw, if you are unable to watch the program from Cyprus, you can try one of these UK proxies here:

There is another thread with the same subject.

So, I'm closing this one.

"Turkish invasion" would have preffered "Turkish intervention"
