It wasn't realistic enough for me.

Why wasn't Trev getting hassled by waiters every 10 yards around the harbour ?

Yes Glasbury, I too would love to walk around the pretty harbour.....well that is until the restaurants employed people to pester as you walked by...

Blackbird - Msg 13 I just put my head down, keep walking and ignore the pestering people and speak Welsh to them in reply. It usually works. I actually meant I want to be in the TRNC not specifically the harbour but it looked very warm and sunny - oh well here's waiting for the next trip.

During the commercial break, when the GC 'Visit Cyprus' tourist board advert went on with Thomas Cook I thought why couldn't the NC tourist board have had a little ad with Direct Traveller or Cyprus Paradise....?

Mike Msg 18 - The government could not afford to put the advert in. The budget for 2011 is very limited and one TV advert would have taken a large hole out of it.

If they were to sponsor Cyprus Paradise (which is not a company but a trading name of Cyprus Premier) they would have had to support all the specialists too.

Tour operators like us must just be glad that the mentions were so much better biased than in the past and yes well done Izzet Bey you came over as fair minded which is very important.

Hello Everyone good morning,

How nice to read balanced postings on what was a very well balanced piece of television.

Just a thought, several million Brits. will have seen the Cyprus Problem from a totally different perspective which I suggest, can only be good news for the Island and the Turkish Cypriots in particular.

NCMan

Its Fontana which is sometimes diplayed at the top of the page on here. Although the web site link takes you to

http://www.cyprus-car.com/

On the site it says

Can I drive the vehicles to North Cyprus?

You may drive to North Cyprus but you will need to pay for separate insurance at the border (15 Euros for 7 days, open 24/7), because there is no insurance company in south Cyprus that covers accidents in north Cyprus. You may use the following 3 border points to pay for insurance and pass 24/7: Ayios Demotios in Nicosia, Pergamos (Pyla) in Larnaca and Vvisoules Strovilia in Famagusta.

I have just watched it and have a few comments of my own

was actually quiet sad to see the buffer zone , i did however like the sign at the old desserted airport that said "tipping porters is not allowed " lol

I think it was a good piece on the island, the only complaint I would have is that I wish the likes of Trevor MacDonald and his researchers would do their homework before using the word "invasion"...we all truly know that it was a turkish intervention to stop further cypriots being killed, both turkish and greek.

It was also good to put a face to the name of Izzet "a would be entrepeneur" Trevors's words...lol

The best for me was seeing my aunt in the harbour with Trevor and Izzet and hearing her laugh....

all I can see is I cant wait to get back to the cyprus i know and love

I thought that Trevor's UN guide to be somewhat patronising in his asserion that ordinary people either side of the divide were 'unaware' - I don't think so!!

Sienna...msg 27

I agree....he always seems ill at ease with people and at odds with his surroundings.

He can read an autocue in a studio, but he is far from being a great communicator.

He always seems very stilted and the conversation never flows.

I've said this on another post............somewhere...I thought the program to be unbiased with a fairly neutral view on TRNC...

Re. Msg 28. I have said something similar on the other thread: If only he could do a similar joint venture to organise a young children based education based activity. That would help save future generations.

For those who did not see it - the report was fair and as is often the case some inaccuracies (I'm sure the Greek Cypriots would say the same).

Izzet (who set up and runs Cyprus44) was mentioned and for those of you who do not know it he runs a travel business in North Cyprus and also a car hire company that does go across the border it is to be found at http://www.cyprus-car.com (Izzet does not use his own forum to promote himself very much so I am doing it for him.)
